When you've gone through a break-up, it's time for a pity party, right? But what if we celebrated the newly single instead? And maybe even aspired to be more like them? In this episode, Shan breaks down the highs and the lows of breakups with Kamie Crawford, host of the podcast Relationsh*t and MTV's Catfish. Kamie reveals what went on behind the scenes of her public break-up, and how she’s moving forward. Then, KZbinr and social activist Amber Lee Whittington reflects on how her heartbreaks have resulted in…well, you have to listen to find out.

This is an OLDER episode November 2021. Once in awhile, we upload old episodes to this channel since this podcast was audio only for the first year. Kami has now fully moved on and is in a new relationship. Uploading this archived episode because it's still one of our favs and also bc we are taking two weeks off of doing new episodes to get caught up on work.

Shan, I have a request. Someday can you please do an episode about aging as a “highly attractive” woman? How you handle losing youth, getting less praise and attention for your looks, and how to find other value in yourself. I know this can come off as a shallow topic, but it is something I’m struggling with as I fear “the wall” approaching and my youth slipping away… I’m having a hard time and it seems women aren’t talking about this, maybe out of fear of being made fun of or shamed. I think you’d be amazing in helping and giving a voice and solutions to this hidden issue. I’m sure I can’t be alone in this.

I'm 28 and started feeling it more this year, can't imagine what my 30s will be like 😢 it takes much more work to get, y'know the head turns and street compliments, unlike in my early 20s where I didn't have to do much to be cute. I feel so bad ever bringing this up because it may come across as shallow but it's something I have been struggling with so much and I can't help it. If anyone can suggest any podcast that has talked about this without the "learn to value yourself over looks/male validation" tone (because I really do value/love myself. I have a good job, I have a great personality literally the funny friend, and a loving family), I'd really appreciate it 🙏🏽

This is excellent. Breaking up is so fun. It's like a sport, honestly. Not that I seek breakups but when they happen...baaaaby, I rise to the occasion and show up for my self.

Break-ups may sometimes be necessary, but they are NOT fun and will NEVER be. This is odd, to say the least.

I'm so excited for this one! I just finished a breakup from my fiance, we were together for 5 years and broke up a few weeks ago. I'm in such an empowered and uplifted space, I'm so much more aligned with the universe and myself now! I mourned the relationship while in it, which was incredibly hard 3 months ago. But now...?! NOW?! Like Kami said, we know when it's not right. I kept pushing through that feeling, which didn't serve me or them. I wish them the best, but I'm ECSTATIC to be out of it! 🥰🥰🥰

I definitely wouldn’t characterize breakups as “fun” 😬. I’d say they’re necessary and they can bring out the best or the worst in us depending on our mindset. Regardless tho they hurt, you have to grieve the loss of someone who once meant a lot to you

I’m glad you put this out. I’m ending a long relationship that I’ve forced for way too long with someone that was never a good match. I’m grieving and going through waves of emotion and reliving memories. But I’m also excited for the potential of a relationship with someone who I can truly will make happy and be pleased with too. Everyone deserves a fulfilling relationship.

Breakups are only fun if I was not in love even then I am sad that the other person may have loved me and gotten hurt. Not being right does not remove the hurt for me and the realizations do not remove the suckiness so no breakups are not things I enjoy.

Breakups are not fun! Especially when you're not the one that put a end to the relationship! I would rather say breakups are neccessary for growth and a better vision.

Break ups are not fun! That’s a toxic and irresponsible comment. It’s painful and yes you grow through it. But no one should want to go through a breakup. Yes once you get past it then the sun comes out and you want to explore the new possibilities of life 🙏🏽
@teresamarie7460

People in relationships say this "toxic and irresponsible comment" because they forgot about how devasted they were after breakups. AND they believe their present relationship is forever ever. This is why you should never take advice from people in relationships. 😉

@@teresamarie7460 You’d be surprised, I just went through a breakup and I’m feeling amazing. 5 years, engaged. 3 weeks out from the breakup & I haven’t stopped smiling. While the process wasn’t fun before getting to the resolution of the breakup, since the breakup I’m feeling on top of the world. At times the fear of ending a relationship can be worse than the reality of ending it. Anyway, I don’t share that to invalidate your personal experience, but to share that we can each have our own unique truths related to our experiences. ❤

@@Christine-wu9tx My comment is in response to the original comment suggesting people who have not already emotionally abandoned their relationship will not "feel amazing" like yourself.

Kamie is off the chizzy! She said, "I had a seat cushion!" 😂 Kam, I love you to life. I watch Catfish and Are You The One and all your shows just 'cause your on there. But, Hon, "seat cushion" was not one of the options...lmao 😂! Also,🗣 shout out to Shan Boodram...you are truly amazing! When you can take knowledge, wit & determination and wrap them up into some sort of intelligently articulate, classy ball that's saying something. Kudus Ladies...great interview! (Newcomer)

So sorry to be a bummer, but Shan, please please pleeease fix your sound :( at least lately your sound is really off and it's unfun to listen to. here your voice is way too loud next to Kamies. On your podcasts the jingles/songs are way too loud compared to the talks. It can be really unpleasant for the listeners.
