Just wow!!! I was 17 in August 1966.We were driving around in a 1959 Impala convertible, top down and 95 degrees in the middle of a heat wave! This came on the tinny sounding AM radio and all of us in the car simply loved it.That was an era of simply magical music. Coming from every genre. The Beatles,The Rascals,The Byrds,Kinks,Beach Boys,so many more who can count! That doesn’t even begin to star talking about the Motown Sound. We had no idea how lucky we were to have the experience of listening to such groundbreaking music,it truly helped us cope with a world full of war, race riots, assassinations etc.We really need it now

This is a first class recording of a first class song from a first class band. For me it just never gets old. The music arrangement and chord structure and vocal delivery turn this into a great pop song. That's saying something as most popular music is forgettable. Just my opinion but I believe lots of people like this song. Also, I think 95% of the songs that were in the charts alongside this in 1966 are long long forgotten and rightly so.

1966 I'm 10yrs old and it's July and hot outside, this is on the radio in Mom's car (no air conditioner) 'windows down' in the Ford custom, two door, sedan, as we drive through the westside of Cleveland going to Sears & Roebuck at 110th and Lorain rd. I'm looking at the rooftops of the building's wishing I was up there, thinking it's got to be cooler up there. Just a moment frozen in memory, it's all gone now, the Sears, Mom & Dad and the inspiration of hope from great music and a once great country, hungry with ambition, talent and a future.

We had some hot summers then, but we were not used to always being in the AC, and we dealt with heat much easier then, unlike today. I was born in 1962 and never had AC in a house until 1981. We rode in our cars with no AC and the windows down to get that Hot breeze.
