This is phenomenal! Thanks for showing it Martina and Damian. I will share it with my Latam CocaCola team. This feature of dependencies on the boards in azure devops is exactly what we needed to be able to integrate the different teams that we have working within azure devops.

Can you zoom out to see the major initiatives, then zoom into a major initiative to see its components, and further zoom in to get more and more detail? Or does the zoom just take the roadmap boxes and make them bigger and smaller without showing how they roll-up to their parent initiatives?

Very buggy piece of functionality. You can't drag and drop bits and pieces very well. When you reorder, it doesn't hold after a page refresh. Would also benefit from swimlanes

Great - really cool! But what if I or my management like to see Initiatives? Can Initiatives also be shown according their Begin Date and End Date? I mean to show that they start in January and last until end of June. I was not able to do so 😞

Under the road map view of the plan how can change the order of the cards as they appear? I am not talking start and end dates but how do I move some cards up above the others and some below others. In this example how can I move up the Epic 23 where you have epic 1 and move epic 1 into 3rd position?

I wish we had something above epic, but I am not sure what, probably product or "project" but we need a different term since devops uses projects as a "team", maybe "group" or "bundle or something" Our team will be releasing a few complete new "products" worht of features, some actual prodcuts, and completing several projects that are made up of features and epics, and we'll slot them together in a quarterly release. there is currently not a great way to do that, since epics can't parent epics. and our "products" and "products" are made up of epics within the CMMI process...haven't found a good soluttion to this yes other than flags on the delivery plan.

@mlh3636 Martina, is there any way to have the timeline/delivery plan dates for Features, being fed based on roll-up of the child Stories/Bugs/Tasks as per Jira? This would save me having to keep manually adjusting the Start Date and Target Date or adding Iterations to Features which our Scrum Master is not keen on. The timeline would then extend out as Stories/Bugs/Tasks are added to Iterations. This would be amazing if so. Thank you.

Hi - thanks for this helpful video. I see that in your version, the sprints don't always appear. How can I remove the row showing sprints from my plan? Also, is there a quarter by quarter view, or just monthly?
@TonyCoyle
@TonyCoyle 2 жыл бұрын
the calendar on any swimlane is driven entirely by that team's calendar (so if want to see 'months' your team needs to define their iterations as months)

Can you share what the Iterations configuration for the Project and the Teams look like? I'm having trouble configuring my iterations to get work items to show up like this. It looks like there should be a parent AgilePractices iteration, and within that iterations for each month (January, February, March, etc.). But then for the epics it looks like they need their own iterations with arbitrary timelines (mid-Jan to early April for Epic 1). Then those iterations need to be available to a particular team. I'm trying to make it work, but my iteration nesting and configuration aren't right and it's not coming out the same way.
@AzureDevOps
@AzureDevOps 3 жыл бұрын
In the demo, iteration paths for the project and teams in Agile Practices are configured by months under quarters like this: • AgilePractices\PI-Q1\January • AgilePractices\PI-Q1\February • AgilePractices\PI-Q1\March Start Date and Target Date are being used for the Epics backlog so for those items to display those dates must be filled out. When using the iteration path, make sure all the work items are assigned to the same level otherwise items may not display. In the demo, all work items for the BumbleBee team are assigned to the month level of the iteration path. A work item assigned to the quarter level would not display.

Hi, great feature. Thanks! I have a question about dependencies. It didn't work to visualize the dependency between Business Goal-epic-User Story, when they are related by successor-predecessor and at the same time as parent-child. If I remove the parent-child relationship, it's OK. However, in my backlog I can't see the hierarchy anymore. Is it possible to work with the links in the delivery plan and at the same time maintain the parent-child relationship to work well in the backlog?

This is a per project plan, not multi-project! Or portfolio management! Misleading conversation. This board is fractioned by team. That could be shared among projects., But there is no way to have a multi-project view of your portfolio.

Hey any ADO experts here? I have a project which will be cross teams and I've been asked to set up a separate backlog for it but manage it independently across teams during their own stand ups with a Scrum of Scrums between POs. Is there an ADO hack for this with less admin involved?

Azure DevOps integrates with Project on the web at a work item level but not the Delivery Plan level. Work item data can be pulled into PowerBI via Odata queries but not Delivery Plans.

I'm having major issues trying to implement this. I have an Azure Devops environment which uses custom work item types, we have a default project iteration setting with standard monthly iterations (Jan, Feb, Mar, etc.) however when I create a delivery plan the default project iteration isn't pulled through and none of the iteration boxes as shown above in the video (Jan, Feb, Mar) are shown. Instead the only way you can add an iteration to the delivery plan is if you go into the team itself and add one of the iterations from the original list of default iterations (why on earth would anyone do this) specifically to that team, the other issue is you can only add five iterations in that teams area, so you can only add five months at a time potentially. I don't understand how in the above video however Martina has more than 5 iterations, where or how were these set up? Also, if I don't assign an item to the iteration then its not shown in the delivery plan, which is fine however that means the items in the delivery plan have to be assigned to an iteration and will always be set to the same amount of time as the iteration, rather than the start and end date spanning across multiple months (iterations). This could be amazing for my team if I can get this to work, but so far this is really unfriendly and doesnt work well with what I have set up in AD.
@JH21423
@JH21423 3 жыл бұрын
Ok so I've since worked out actually you aren't restricted to five iterations, you are only restricted to adding five iterations to a team "at one time", so you just have to keep adding them in in multiples of 5 - no drama. However, I still don't understand why you can't revert back to the default project iteration? Not sure why you would have to add the individually to each team rather than revert to the default project
