You know, everyone always says that about Gallavich, and I used to think that too. But honestly I realized it's not completely true. I'm rewatching the first seasons at the moment, and I noticed a lot of details about Mickey's reactions that I didn't notice before. I mean, Mickey fell in love with Ian (or at least put his eyes on him) at the very beginning of the show. When Ian worked at the grocery store and still was in that weird story with Kash, Mickey was jealous, even before they had sex the first time. I don't know if I'm right about this, but several details, expressions and words make me think that.

I liked that scene too. That felt like an authentic joke you'd hear a gay couple do to poke fun at each other. But those lines do make it more confusing how they made an episode where they're having sex and Mickey told Ian "Let's get you pregnant" but then Ian suddenly doesn't want to bottom anymore & the whole episode was them arguing abt who's the man/woman top/bottom. That episode was so crunchy & kinda homophobic NGL. It's inconsistent bc Ian & Mickey make explicit references throughout the whole show about doing diff sex positions with each other , which makes it weird whenever there's episodes like that "who's the man/woman" episode where they suddenly treat sex positions like a whole identity 🥴 It comes off as the writers' room being mostly if not all straight ppl writing into stereotypes about gays and viewing them through sex positions as if they're labels & not just things ppl try in bed. Anyways, that's why the "-penile enhancement -you mean reduction -aww you're worried about my safety" joke lands better bc it's still an explicit sex joke but it doesn't suddenly feel like straight writers are trying & failing to write about gay stuff. The show is hit-or-miss with that 😅 Side note: Kev makes a lot of gay jokes that land well, and I think it's bc the actor is bi and he was as libbing his own jokes.
