Happy #LowAnthropology Release Day!! Long time coming, eh? Here's another video we made to celebrate, focusing on the cover, which folks have asked about.
Needless to say, Low Anthropology is a difficult topic to depict visually. It could veer too somber or ‘heavy’ [a la rotting fruit or something], when I feel the tone of the book is anything but.
I told designer Tom Martin it's about “revealing, in a playful way, what’s going on under the surface in life.” I love the image he came up with! It’s light and whimsical yet locates that whimsy in a failed magic trick.
The gentleman, it turns out, isn’t so good at whipping that tablecloth out. Things go flying, as they so often do when we peek under the artifice. Yet that catastrophe isn’t grave or final. Something remains on the table, something beautiful and essential: an Easter lily. I hope the book leaves you on a similar note.
Best thing you can do to support, other than order countless copies(!), is to share about it on social media and post a review on Amazon or GoodReads.
