Low Cost Camping in Northern Queensland

In this episode, we begin our journey up the Northern Queensland coast and quickly discover that free and low-cost camping spots are quite rare! However, we stumble upon some hidden gems that offer fantastic free and affordable camping experiences.
We start at Burpengary East, staying at the Wescloud Lodge Farm Stay, a budget-friendly campsite right on the doorstep of the Sunshine Coast. Our next stop is Tiaro Memorial Park in Tiaro, an excellent free camp for travelers heading north. Our final stop is the Wyper Park Scout Camp, a charming low-cost bush camp near Bundaberg.
Continuing north from Bundaberg, we reach Charter Towers and find several great free camps. Unfortunately, due to the Queensland long weekend, many free campsites are full, and we spend the night in a caravan park. Enjoy! 😊

We've never been to The Cape either and no doubt there's some special naughty list we get put on for that - oh well. We'll be interested to see what you guys make of it since the sort of travel you do is more our 'thing' than the way many others might head to the tip and explore that area. You no doubt already know since you're from here, it's unseasonably cold right now (like, stupidly cold!) so avoid heading south any time soon if you can! No doubt the timing of your trip south will be dictated by a very small person though. Looking forward to seeing the next instalment.

Hey 👋🏼 we were wondering where you were at with planning the caravan 🧐 Haha 😛 Childers!! We stayed in EXACTLY the same spot! Great spot! 👍 We were doing a Chiro/Physio leapfrog up the coast from both of us getting injured along the way & hobbling on walking sticks…. Another fireside story 😊anyway. I digress. Haha, yeh mate, the van journey is an interesting one! We are trying to fit a 24' van into 22' foot, and unless we break some fundamental rules of physics, it's proving difficult! 🍻🍻🍻

It can be very expensive! That being said, it depends on how you travel, now we are moving very slowly and it's quite cheap. It's been 4 weeks at our current spot @15 per night with water, fires and huge open bush space. 👍👍🍻

Love your thought process balancing beer and food lol. Now I know who to blame for the rain down here but vegie gardens are loving it! 😀 We're 9 days before we head off and I have 4 days left on shift. (Insert happy dance!) Comet Pub feed looked good will file that spot as we'll be stopping near Comet on rellies cattle property on way through. Enjoy the trip north. 👍

9 days!! How exciting! To be fair, yes it's been raining a lot up here but after just spending a week down in Melbourne for work, I would take the Queensland rain any day! 👍👍
