😢I use that packing paper , cut to newspaper size pieces, on my kitchen island to cut my veggies on when I make meals. Then I wrap my scraps and wet waste before I put it in my kitchen garbage so it won't smell by garbage time!( I do not have a compost pile) Especially when I am breaking down packages of meat into serving size amounts for the freezer. And I agree, so much waste! God Bless! ( The chickens would love what you did with their former house!😊❤

Hi, Tessie. Shredding the boxes for the compost bin or as mulch in the garden are great uses for them. You addressed something so important in this video, both so we are good stewards and so we are living wisely in these times. Zero waste is something I'm constantly working to attain. It's definitely time to go back to the old ways and the old mindset of, "Use it up, wear it out, make it do, or do without". Your herb/seasoning shed looks so cozy; I can only imagine how amazing it must smell in there. Have a wonderful evening. ☺

lol brings back memories. Many nights I spent cutting shredding cardboard boxes from tv, refrigerator, Amazon etc. Even the paper packing I shredded. We used it for work bedding. Would make 50 gal trash cans full. Did it for years. Would out on sermons and just went to twin for about 2-4 hours in the evening. Was really an enjoyable time.

Other brown ingredients to add to your compost are toilet paper tubes, and paper towel tubes. If there's anyone who wants to get started on compost, but can't afford a composter, buy a large, black garbage can. Black heats up great, and it holds lots of compost. It's a cheap way to compost.😊

Atta girl❤ I built 3 displays for my spice blends to place in local stores using scrap lumber and trim, along with a 13 year old can of paint that had never been opened. If I had shopped for the supplies it would have cost about $250.00 But I was able to do it with scraps I had on hand as well as scraps that were given to me. That's $250.00 I can spend on other needs 😊❤ I've used the brown craft paper to wrap gifts I crumple it, cut it, wrap the gift, and then I add a red and white checkered bow Turns out so cute

I think zero waste is important. One couple who were missionaries said our kitchen scraps in Cuba or Hondurus or somewhere where people would go out everyday day that lived by the trash yard would go through the trash and this guy said our kitchen scraps those people would make meals out of the waste. So sad. In fact their survival relies on them eating the waste of others.

Self reliance is what I think about. My parents both lived through the great depression and many wars. Using what you have, use it up or do without. Tessie, we need to re-learn so many things. I love the cardboard mulch, such a great tip. It does last forever so I don't put it in the compost pile. I also buy pine shavings from Tractor Supply for compost if I don't have enough browns, too funny! For about 6 bucks I can get a bag like 4 times that size. I go through like two a year and even use some of it for mulch. It's almost impossible to find good, regular chip wood mulch these days. It's all used wood pallets, dyed, or even plastic.
