Never played any of the PGA West courses when I lived in LA. Funny story, my local golf club had an away trip to play the Stadium Course one summer. Plenty of good players among the membership, including LA amateur winners, and several former members who become club pros and even a touring pro or two. IIRC, the group that went averaged well over 100 and about 10-20 strokes worse than their handicaps would indicate.

Good to have you back Adam. Since you’re in the area, a couple good courses to try would be about 30 minutes away from Palm Springs out near Beaumont. Morongo owns two courses called Tukwet and across the street is oak valley. Both solid courses if you’re tired of the Palm Spring spots. And I can actually afford to join you this year lol. I actually spent a couple hours on the phone with the folks in Sycamore to make sure I was getting the right clubs and I've been really happy with them, but always wonder if I might have gotten something different had I been able to hit them all.

@@OffBrandGolf I started with 699 irons (6-Gap) and 699U 5i. I've added the 939x 4H, 5W and 3W. They were out of wedges in the lofts I wanted when building my bag, so went with another DTC brand in the SW, NewLevel, for wedges.

@@OffBrandGolf don’t take it so personal lol, you don’t have to have a pretty swing to be good, which is why I said you must have a good short game. Adam is a heckuva player and his swing isn’t exactly a mirror image of Adam Scott either, but it’s effective for him. Mine isn’t great either for an 8 handicap, I only play 40 times a year, like yours it’s too long and my right elbow gets high trying to generate power. Whenever I shorten it I don’t hit as far but I’m able to square the club face better and I have more control of where the balls going. When I was 30 years old I was a 2 handicap but it wasn’t because I had a pretty swing, it was because I was money from 130 yards in and I could putt better than most, thus my comment. At 55 now I just don’t have time to play as much. Anyway, now that I know you’re pretty sensitive I won’t watch or comment on Adams videos when you’re on….play well!!

i played 2 of 3 dye courses at paiute in las vegas and they were amazing. the greens ran at stimp 13 and it had many similar attributes to PGA west. the fast greens were a shocker for someone who is used to greens that normally run at stimp 9! and that bermuda grass was so harsh! i actually bought a bag of bermuda grass seed so i can grow a little plot to practice on so when i go south again, i don't get so chewed up! happy holidays from hamilton :-)
