Since 2015, this is now known as PBM or photobiomodulation. Newer devices use LEDs so using the term “laser” is no longer reflective of modern means of providing the electromagnetic radiation.

You're absolutely right that the term "Photobiomodulation" (PBM) is now commonly used to describe what was previously referred to as "low-level laser therapy" (LLLT), however this lecture was specifically developed for a module that used Laser machines. It's important to note that while light-emitting diodes are becoming more prevalent, this doesn't mean lasers are not used anymore; both lasers and LEDs can be used in photobiomodulation therapies, and each has advantages and disadvantages. The choice of light source can depend on a variety of factors like the desired penetration depth, treatment area size, and specific clinical application. Admittedly though, photobiomodulation is a more inclusive term because it focuses on the effect of the therapy (modulation of biological functions by light) rather than the specific type of light source used-and LEDs are being increasingly used in these therapies.
