Just found out she died not too long ago. It feels like a part of me died with her. I'm just glad her beautiful voice has been immortalized in Low.

You might not know how suffer can be high And how suffering inside can lose your mind You're right on the first part of the song But life still go on and my favorite's one Still living inside So many people around me dies so young But does they choose to? Death as a remedy of life But now I know something keep me alive When suffering inside can lose your mind You might not know how suffer can be high You're not my favorite one But I keep you as one on the list Who will walk me out when it's all done, Here is for what I don't know In the deepest night Still Mary keeping me hanging out my Ever-broken heart

"They'll never cure this thing/With medicine and magazines... How can it be that fun/When everyone around you died so young." Takes a distinct meaning in the context of endless war.

I hope I'm not being too personal, but I've always wondered if the themes and content of Things We Lost in the Fire had anything to do with having a child and the depression that can sometimes follow that experience. If I'm not mistaken, Sparhawk and Parker had a baby in the run-up to recording the album this is on.

I've always thought it possible that the line "How can it be that fun..." referred to being gay, and that the song is an endorsement of prayer over medical science. I hope not. I really hope not.

I truly think that would be a stretch. I've met the band and my Hatedar registered nothing. In my thoughtscape, this song is about Heroin/opiate addiction. I have always heard it as a message to an addicted friend/relative who is in danger of overdosing.

I know this is 9 years old, but I dont know that I've ever seen a dumber theory about a song in my life.
