Oh my goodness! Thank you so much. I've been panicking trying to figure out how to do like a 1920s look and the s/finger waves all around are outside of my comfort zone as far as capability. Then I found some inspiration for a messy side bun and found this tutorial and it's perfect! I plan on implementing like 2 finger waves on the side of the head with the bun and then putting a headpiece on with a birdcage veil on the other. So excited!

You’re very welcome ☺️ parting on either side would work, but personally I normally part on the opposite side I want the bun to sit. Hope this helps?

It’s gorgeous and I am desperate to do this for my sons wedding next month. But I have very thick hair, but it is also fine and I have never been able to get Bobby pins to stay in. they fall out in seconds. Do you have a similar style without Bobby pins please, or are there any tricks to using pins that might help please?

Hi 🙋🏻‍♀️ I once did this style on a lady with waist length thick hair, so it’s definitely achievable ☺️ The best advice I can give you is to add lots of Bobby pins around the whole perimeter of the bun, but also criss cross this with other pins (so it makes an ‘x’ shape from the pins) , make sure you catch a little hair from the edge of the bun along with a little hair from the head underneath it. The main weight of the hair will be supported by popping the hair in to the ponytail first to give it more stability! good luck, I hope you manage to do it. enjoy your Sons special day xx

Also, try backcombing the hair at the roots on the side you’ll be pinning it, which will also help hold your pins better x
