I went to the Sydney Aquarium with my partner a few years ago, and some of the amphibious animals were being fed live crickets. The crickets, however, had other ideas, and a few of them managed to escape the enclosure, and made their way to the rocky outcroppings... above the Mudskipper enclosure. The mudskippers moved significantly faster than I expected them to be able to, suddenly they had surrounded the rock that the crickets were unwarily walking across, and then down... and then straight into the mudskipper enclosure. It was a massacre, crickets jumped off the rocky outcropping to their freedom, only to be snapped up and swallowed whole by a swarm of hungry mudskippers. Love those cute lil' fish.

About 30 years ago 3-D World Magazine, or a similar publication, included a tutorial on sculpting a mudskipper using metaballs (a new technique at the time) in Cinema 4-D (a new program at the time). I didn't have Cinema 4-D so never followed it, but it always stayed in my mind, and I've often thought about sculpting mudskippers in Blender when I have time. In March I was performing in a show at the mouth of The Chaophraya River in Thailand where there is a mangrove preserve, and at low tide I was happy to finally see mudskippers in the wild.
