This is just a quick video of the LR3 CNC first coming alive! I've built a lot of CNC machines and those first moments of movement are always cool.
Move videos to come.
Thanks for taking a look!

Yeah, had some time this week to devote to it. Pretty fast build to get it up and running.

Thanks! It was a fun build. Still tinkering with it as well as some other CNCs. It's hard to have only one!

I don't understand how people build these things so fast. I've been trying to build mine for almost a year.

Stick to it! I've built a lot of CNC machines over the years. After a while it just becomes more familiar.

Congratulations for the build. I don't really understand what's holding the x axis down. It is only its own weight? Is that enough?

Yep. Good eye. Just the weight of the router and the frame are holding it down. That surprised me too when I was building it. Works fine as long as you don’t get too aggressive with the depth of cut. Thanks for your comments.

@@drez20001 OK, sounds interesting. Does this work even with a surfacing bit? Thank you for the answer.

Nice! Can it cut a full sheet of plywood?

It can be set up to do so. The frame would have to be extended out though to get a full 4x8 working area. This one was about 3'x7' +/-.

It's a fun machine that is capable of pretty cool stuff. I've cut some signs and a few parts for some of my boat projects. Currently working on and with other CNC machines as well. Fun stuff.
