@@autonomousindividual7780 I should set mine up with a few alternators, and use it to charge my battery bank. There's a JSD1800 in my future for that purpose, but I'll admit the Listeroid would be fun. Or maybe a Slavia single... :-)

It IS SO soothing.... WAY better than a noisy smoky generator... they outlawed these for a reason... they don't want people to be self sufficient

Yes, but you also need to load it. Otherwise wet stacking will kill it long before forever 😀

Why do so many people run these nice diesels with no cooling water? The block temp they feel is nothing compared to the cylinder temp.

You are right. However, this engine ran only for about 10 minutes without load. The water was still cold.
