Today we are exploring the east end of Sanibel Island. I spent a few hours snooping around before sunrise at low tide, and I'd say it was a success! While the large shells weren't always prevalent, there is always something on the beach, and switching up your strategies can often pay off, as you will see in today's video!
Apologies for the delayed upload, but I was having some technical difficulties :(
Enjoy!

Very nice finds. They say on Sanibel to look for what looks like coffee grounds washed up to find the wentletraps.

Yes, that's what I've heard too, although it also seems like the little smatterings of tiny things at low tide are also pretty good.

I have a world of respect for your choice not to narrate these trips! It’s a refreshing change from women yakking and children chattering on here! Love it, thank you!

I'm not actually in Florida right now, but I am hoping the damage in SWFL isn't catastrophic, and I appreciate your comment. Appearantly part of the Sanibel causeway has been destroyed by the hurricane :(

Wow! What a great haul! I was curious about what you were using for a light? I didn’t night shell last month as I didn’t have a red light. Is that no longer necessary or is that based on location and nesting? I look forward to your posts!

This was not filmed during turtle season, so I was exempt from the red LED light rule. I use my headlamp, the Petzl Swift RL for filming at night most of the time. Thanks for watching!

What a great morning of shelling! The haul is amazing! I love the tinies. I was just thinking that’s perfect conditions to find a wentletrap and then you did. 🤣 Hopefully this storm out there will bypass the west coast but should provide some good shelling days thereafter. Thanks for sharing and hunker down if need be. 🤗🐚🐚🐚🐚

Thank you! And that is funny how you though of that at that exact moment! I'm not on the island right now, but hopefully the storm won't do much damage, and instead bring in lots of shells :)
