Whats wrong about these characters compared to most mid to high tiers? I dont play the game so I dont understand, I just see donkey kong being a raid boss disjointed beast that will kill you at 50 and live past 200 and K Roll having armor on half of his moves and several projectiles on a big body charcter and I dont understand why they are any better than what people say is mid tier.

DK is like low mid tier because he doesn’t live past 200% as often as you think due to his horrible recovery and he has an awful disadvantage state plus DK is weak to zoners and fast characters K. Rool is slow as hell, has one of the worst disadvantage states in the game, his recovery is exploitable and he’s screwed if his armor breaks plus just like DK, he’s weak against zoners and fast characters

A surprising numbers of combos become true against DK, as well as him just being combo food in general. Projectiles can be very bad, especially ones like non charged charge shot (clashes with most of DKs moves and leaves him in hit stun for Samus to punish), and offstage when you don’t have a jump then it’s really hard with dk. Counters off stage make it really hard to recover when you are far away unless your opponent can’t utilise counters well, the lack of vertical mobility harms mix up potential, and it’s easy to spike once you learn how the up b moves and works

As a casual players all characters are high tier, because they are all fun to play as. As for competitive scene, strictly from just watching these matches, a character is high tier if people are winning by them a lot, and you get people make million reasons as to why that character is high tier. Then when a great player use hitherto considered low tier and win matches by adapting their play style, you will get million other reasons as to why that character is high tier.

DK is awful. Has zero winning matchups on any good characters. HORRIBLE disadvantage state, every character in the game can abuse him to no end. As long as you respect his grab and don’t drop shield on aerial down b, a lot of his kill setups are gone. Everyone hypes up his advantage state but it’s no better than any of the top/high tiers’
