I have found that by this method loss in portfolio is not exactly equal to gain in puts even taken care of the beta...significant lags remain in put hedging ...

This portfolio hedging will work out if market crashes significantly. If the market will remain same place or only change only slightly. We would still lose the insurance we paid. But still this is a good way to hedge the portfolio.

We are protecting against major crash only. Like more than few thousand points crash like during covid. Minor losses will be corrected very quickly anyway.

Very very incorrect analysis. The premium difference in calendar put is not accounted for. Also what if the market goes sideways.
