I'd buy it for $1,200. It's an older Toyota. Those cars are tanks and they run forever. You can get over 300,000 miles easily on one of those engines. If that engine and transmission are even marginally well-maintained, you can strip the car and part it out, and make a profit on just those two items alone. Unless it's an '00 through '03 model year. They're junk.
