Really good looking pack. I wonder - given that the hip belt is stiff & presumably hard to fold back - is there a risk of damage when stowing on a plane? Say a heavy object placed directly on top of the pack (assuming the pack is face down and the belt facing upwards). Any thoughts on how to safely transport it and I'm ready to buy. Thanks.

Thanks for the question @Benedict D. The hip belt will fold reasonably flat against the back of the pack and the webbing strap can then be clipped around the front of the packs to secure in place - this is actually how they come shipped to us. You’d be unlucky to damage the hip belt, but a good solution to make stowing on a plane hassle-free is a backpack cover that fully encloses the pack. This not only helps protect your pack, but also has added security benefits as it helps prevent anyone from accessing external pockets. www.ellis-brigham.com/osprey-airporter-med-292641 -Matt
