This was brilliant. Thanks so much!!! You brought the entire games emotions to life. It’s beautiful.

I’ve always loved video game music but SM might have been the first time I realized how truly great it could be.

Slow and sad, menacing and thoughtful. It makes me think of a villain watching the rain and thinking of some time when they may have been happy. Then turning and instead seeing what they are left with. The world they made.

Clutch as hell. I always felt that this track plays like a duet between the cello and mandolin. The guitar almost melts away. =)

Aaahhhh this is so good! This is one of my favourite themes in the series, and you totally nailed it. Love the synergy between the mandolin and the cello chugging away at the bass section. Cheers!

@@RunonMusicHave you listened to Metroid Cinematica by Sam Dillard? It's a reaaaaallly good orchestral album of music from the Metroid series, but with his own cinematic flavour. I believe the lower brinstar theme appears in the super atmospheric track "Deep Passage". Absolutely worth a listen if you're interested.

This is lovely. Also, this is pretty much my ideal three instruments to know how to play, and you did them all!
@reneeschke4 жыл бұрын
Loved that you omitted some elements due to lack of instruments but reintroduced them as soon as the instrument was free again. (The drums for instance). Great choice of instruments, too. Double like for mentioning TOOL 8)
@RunonMusic4 жыл бұрын
Thanks so much for commenting on the arranging itself! I really like experimenting with limiters on what the instrumentation should be to have new creative moments pop up
@reneeschke4 жыл бұрын
@@RunonMusic Yeah. Covering it myself right now, I realized that it feels too full / too busy with my instrumentation, when I take the exact same arrangement as the original. I guess my instrumentation or mix (more the lack of, since I play it live?) results in overlapping frequency spectrums? I'm too much of a noob to say for sure, just a guess. 🤣 Anyways: I'll try your approach by removing some parts. It works really well in your arrangement and makes it even more interesting and refreshing, when certain elements get reintroduced. I was surprised that the omitted drums worked so well.

Very beautiful bro. Super Metroid's soundtrack is definitely one of the best music ever written for a video game. Looking forward to hearing more from you. You should do SNES' Legend of Zelda A Link To The Past. And Street Fighter 2's music is pretty damn good too.

Wow, this really captures the trance-like energy I've always felt in the lower brinstar theme. Well done. It also reminds me a bit of fleetwood mac in a weird (good) way--maybe the "wildness" created by the instrumentation

I overdosed years ago and Lower Brinstar was what my brain was singing when I miraculously awoke after 4 days of no signs. This song means so much to me. I call it my theme because its first thing I was aware of when I opened my eyes and it kept me calm with a tube down my throat. I always look up various versions when depression comes and this song reminds me that my mission on this earth isn't done yet. Now I work in the education and the mental health fields, to prevent our youth from going into addiction and to help others come out from the darkness of addiction.
