Poor get to live in smaller space, room under other buildings or buildings basement rental , at least somewhere to hide under sleep I saw a German channel This way majority poor & very lower people won't be on street, have place. Although may be illegal price drent but have place Obviously there are homeless Mentally disturb people etc May be authority will do something for them over time. 3 to 4 Decades past when China was still very poor and industrialisation just starting A lot of beggars & upheaval & corruption But 2 generation later time have change Numerous place have gone through 3 to 5 upgrades so at least may be most reachab6place is decent

I wouldn’t call this a “lower class” area, it’s just an old neighborhood. Its doesn’t mean these people are poor. Depending upon which city this is at, it’s not possible to conclude this is the average neighborhood or not. It’s still pretty clean and since it’s close to a city means the property owners may get very rich when developer expand into the area.

i never thought foreigner will say something like this...... i mean its time to accuse communist party for leaving Chinese people in poor..... i basically spend my childhood time in this kind of neighbor, in 2010 my area was totally reconstructed and replaced by new buildings, the government paid for that of course, but replace of houses do not mean replace of citizens, people living in new house are still lack of foresee half of child in my neighbor finally go to college and find a place in the city, we haven't meet each other for years i remember a classmate at my Junior school, he finally be a cook and do not go to college, i think maybe he is much more happy than me as i go back home on lunar year festival vacation, he was drinking and have a good meal at 1am, on the street, with their waiters and their boss, he was the man who talk the loudest and drunk the most, i feel he was more happy than me maybe one day i will try to be a cook either

Wow! Thanks for video! These poor neighborhoods look better than many New York City neighborhoods.
Not surprising. In Singapore, you can see similar areas but they are then over time, either redeveloped (meaning demolished and rebuilt), marked for historical preservation (the building get patched and repainted) or left alone (because its on a 999 year lease and the owner just let it be run down). Give it a decade, the various economic pressures for expansion (and thus priority for limited resources) will get to such areas

Can't believe with today's global problems, that a person would go out of his way to record OTHER people's problems instead of reporting his country's problems (as if there is a country on this planet without problems)...

And China's poor areas are still better than the ghetto areas in EU & US (or in many Asian countries). In China, even the poorest neighborhoods are very safe and relatively clean. The only thing those people need are new houses or facilities. In the ghetto's in the West, you can't solve any problems with new houses/facilities. Within a year the whole neighborhood would become horrible again: drugs, gangs, prostitution, loads of trash everywhere, neighbours fighting... People can show the most poorest areas of China they want. Those areas in China are still better in many ways! 😊

@@zhu_zi4533I know China is not perfect, but we can't expect that whole China looks futuristic like Shanghai in just a blink of an eye. China is a huge country. It takes time to develop all of the areas. However, it's very clear that China government is making great progresses for the country. I met many Westerners who have travelled in Asia. All of them said they wanted to move to China or Singapore. Reasons: compared to EU/US, China/Singapore are much more modern and safe. In China people are very nice (happier) and food is waaay better. In West many things have become outdated and even "filthy". If you don't see drug addicts then you might encounter violent teenagers who like to beat the crap out of us just for fun (many reports of hate crimes against Asians too btw). Go to US & EU for vacation, but don't live permanently.

10 kilometers from the city center? In this case, these buildings are ready to be demolished, and if they are on the edge of a big city, the government will compensate the demolished houses, and a family can get millions
Personally, I enjoyed the video. We see many videos of the wonders of China, just as with the US. I agree with you that all countries have areas of poverty, interestingly enough, this video was side by side with a video covering areas in the United States which looked worse. In this video, the buildings may be old, but the people keep the area clean and I wouldn't be overly concerned about walking down the street. I can't say that for the American city.

It's actually pretty incredible how Chengdu city center has been developed by looking at these old areas. Considering that it's 10KM FROM the city center? Some people can't grasp the scale of 10km distance or how wide that is.... it's just an incredible transformation for the area..... and this in the last, what? 20 years or so? I've known some areas that haven't changed in 20 years or so in some other countries....

There are documentary shows it in Chinese. Suxh as mentally problem or unable fit in Mostly these people habe some corners or place of resident unused to hide. May be some local authority may help?!? Perhaps only if it becomes too eye sore local government have to take action. In past 5 decades ago China dirt poor beggars many places, 3 decades ago also in industrialisation & development number people injured etc Those time passed, guess those old beggars6also passed away. With more wealth local government can do more. In past when poor, high pollution, corruption, its similar to US, poor stays poor, unfortunate stay outside. IMHO China improved for certain with wealth, newer poor are taken care of more. Future is breaking of family units creating old single loneliness like West. IMHO China have to break with West trend otherwise family unit will suffer immensely & society trouble will increase

@user-sl5xc8cd3d4 ай бұрын
Idk what the 'genuine things' you talking about. I'm a residence living in Chengdu, currently study in Hong Kong. I don't think there's some very bad area in Chengdu. The government have tried to upgrade the countryside's infrastructure. In order to alleviate poverty, the government built a new community directly near those poor villages, and then let people move to the so-called "新农村". The new countryside will generally be accompanied by tourist attractions, regional specialty production bases, housing facilities, roads, etc., which have reached the level that even our urban residents envy. But for most villages, residents live on their own and doesn't want to move. So the government helped them more by adding infrastructure (building highways connection and renovating previous roads) and connecting municipal services (in recent years, even in the very remote villages of Sichuan, the government will provide daily garbage collection service, free bus to town and so on). In fact, life in the village is very ordinary, and I think the village's environment is not worse than that of Kowloon where I am now... (The sanitary environment in Kowloon City is completely uncomparable to that in Chengdu city).
