I reduced my cholesterol from 300 to 195 by eating oat bran, not oats, OAT BRAN. You mix it with some hot water, stir and wait few minutes. You can add some salt, honey, chopped up apples, raisins, egg, cinnamon, wheat bran, or anything you’d like. You can make a big batch and keep it refrigerated. You can mix it with yogurts, add it to smoothies, make gravies with it, make muffins using almond flour, buckwheat and oat bran, so many possibilities. Thank you Dr. Joe for all these wonderful videos. I’m old school and do my own research but lots of youngsters nowadays don’t know how to eat healthy. They live on processed food so we need doctors like you to hopefully point them in the right direction. Thank you.

Years ago my husband had high Cholesterol. The Dr wanted to put him on pills. I said to give me 3 months and I could get it down. All I did was change his breakfast. I made him: 1 serving of Oat Bran 1 Tbsp ground flax seeds 1 Tbsp ground hemp seed 1 Tbsp chopped walnuts. Little bit of sweetener This worked like a charm. His Cholesterol was perfect when we saw the Dr in 3 months. The Dr couldn’t believe it. We love our Oatbran mixture. Thank you for these great videos. I have learned so much. I will be implementing more things into our lives.

I add the fish to the okra mixture adding too cayenne pepper, and black pepper. It's really nice. I have it over bulgar or black mixed rice.

Cut also okra lengthwise, dash some curry powder, abit of olive oil, celtic salt or any seasalt, black pepper, abit of cayenne, toss together in a bowl, then spread evenly on a baking sheet( use the bakesheet paper, for lesser work later). Put the okra on baking tray, cut- side down, at 180 degrees, roughly 10 minutes. Keep an eye on them. Serve with a yoghurt- fresh- lime juice deep. Mhmm...Good for a hot day, as appetiser.❤

@drjoetvMD 7 ай бұрын
Your results aren't bad. The 9.4 post meal result was probably a refined carbohydrate meal outcome but so long as that blood sugar reading winds down within 2 hours, you are good. I am wondering though if you quoted your TSH correctly. It seems quite high. Really high. Something tells me you placed the decimal point in the wrong place. Are you sure it's not 4.7 instead?

Condensed milk will ruin what you are trying to achieve i.e lower your cholesterol because it is full of saturated fat that raises cholesterol. Switch to plant-based milk

I love how you use ochro and melongene as cholesterol busters coz these two are my favourites. I bake my melongene whole in the oven and scrape out the slime inside and add sauteed onion and garlic - yummy to eat with any breads (even the rye or pumpernickle ). You can also bake the ochro whole - season with pink salt, ground geera, chopped chive and olive oil. 350 degrees only 25 mins and you are good to go. Make sure when you season the ochro, let it sit for about 10 minutes then put in a pyrex dish and cover with foil or parchment paper to seal in the moisture before baking.

Dr. Joe. Here are the names of that purple fruit/vegetable: aubergine, egg plant, melongene, baigan. Thee latter is the name that is given by the east indians in the Caribbean. Ochroes are used in one of the national dishes inn Trinidad and Tobago (pronounced To baige o) please note that it's NOT to-bag-o.) The dish is Calla!oo. Get hold of a West Indian cook book and follow. It is made from dasheen leaves, or where that is not available spinach is used. It is important to note that dasheen is a root vegetable either white or blue in colour that itches some people very badly. So get the help of people who know and can help. The dish is DELICIOUS especially when made with coconut milk and salted pig tail. It carries 18 to 24 soft ochroes. Hope this helps.

Thank you Dr Joe. My doctor just called about my blood work and my cholesterol was high. He just said to eat fish. What kind of fish should I buy? And kind of vegetables other than okra and egg plant. Where do I get chia seeds and oat milk and the roll oats. I'm having anxiety moment now since I just found out. He didn't put me on pills 😢
@drjoetvMD
@drjoetvMD 7 ай бұрын
Any fish but oily fish preferably - salmon, mackerel, sardines, anchovies, herring, trout etc. Most vegetables are fine - in particular leafy greens (kale, spinach, romaine lettuce), broccoli, cabbage etc. Chia seeds are available in some supermarkets and online on Amazon. Rolled oats same thing. Oat milk you will get in your local supermarket too

Thank you, Dr. Joe! I watched the whole thing and wrote the recipes down. The Chia pudding looks awesome. I couldn’t really see what topping fruits you put into the bowl and, unless I missed it, you didn’t say. It looked like two kinds of grapes and strawberries, but there was something black in the back. Was that blackberries? I would maybe divide the recipe into several transparent bowls that look pretty as well. Could we maybe do a mint garnish on the top to make it super pretty? Mint wouldn’t hurt would it? Thank you so much for this. Great video! I too, like your patient, lost a bunch of weight, went into the doctors office, and received the bad news that she wanted to put me on statins. It’s just a little pill once a day, but I was so proud of myself, that I was my age and my weight, and never needed medication. Lost the weight just to look and feel better, and this is what I get! Ha ha ha. Anyhow, your video made me feel a little better. Thank you again!

If you feel a little mint will add extra flavour, yes, why not, add it. No, it wasn't blackberries in that recipe. It was grapes, if I remember very well. It's been a while since I recorded that video. Thank you for appreciating
