Loved the video mate, and I am not mechanically minded, but find myself wanting to know more. Close up shots of the tapper spring being put in place, anti reverse mech and trigger as well would be appreciated, even just still shots showing what they connect to. But love the work mate. Very engaging, even for someone as mechanically illiterate as myself. I just learnt more about gear boxes in 33mins than I have my entire life!

@@Carrotsalesman He did ask why you would want to do it as well if you read his question. Shimming is basically where you add small discs of metal to the gears , making them fit better in the gearbox, which gives the advantages listed above when done well.

What do you do when the pinion gear has no more room to move down but is still to tight on the bevel? Also when the spur is tight in the box with no shims then what? Other then those 2 things the vid was extremely helpful

Have you had good experiences with the metal tappits? all of the ones we have used have bent and caused issues within a mag or two. where do you get those ones as they look far stronger then the ones we've found

Hey Guido I've shimmed my nylon gearbox and am running a black chi hai motor, 11.1v battery with 1.4mm unequal spring but it won't draw back the spring it sounds like the motor is just stalling out it won't drive the gears. I would have thought it would have done that easily. Are the chi hais polarity conscious? Not sure whether it's driving against the anti reverse lock which is stalling or if it actually can't drive the spring back. Cheers Brent

you might be on the money about the anti reverse. check the pink terminal on the motor is going to battery positive.

Note the movement in the gears can be off use did a 1.3 spring nylons gears on a ACR J10 had been using it for a bit then I heard the grind😰thought I had striped it so opened it to check expecting the worst but it was all good so the battery was low and the top gear could not pull the spring as the other 2 could still go it must move under lock so you don't get damage put it together charge the battery worked fine😆.👍

Are these airsoft and you just calling them gel blasters due to KZbin policy the reason I ask is I have a channel JJ Moore and they keep deleting my streams about airsoft? Any advise will help

I live In Australia where airsoft is illegal. These are Gel blasters and they are a bit like airsoft but lower quality and they shoot orbees. I also have problems with KZbin policy.

Hey mate new to the sport and so far you seem like as Yoda is to the force you are the same to gel blasters! I've a million questions that can all lead to the answer of just one and that is....if you were to be given the task of finding the best hardest punching drop in out of the box v2 gearbox what would it be?

So of all the qualities you listed there I can think of nothing that meets all the requirements. The HSG V2G is a strong gearbox that can punch hard, but is not drop in, you need to build it yourself. The LDX advanced is drop in, and its great bang for buck but you would need to upgrade the spring at a minimum to get it going hard.

Make sure the plunger is far enough back so that the teeth can engage the gears

If you have to shim the bevel gear underneath to lift it up, have you ever shimmed the anti-reverse latch as well (to raise it so it engages correctly)?

Does your sector gear have the same amount of teeth as the ladder? I think my gear has 16 and the ladder has 14 and it fully pulls spring back and jams and doesn't let go

Are the black nylon cases stronger than the clear plastic ones? Mine keep cracking around the cylinder head with a 1.5 spring so im using a 1.3 spring instead.

Okay so the bushing in on and the gears are tight as and then when i flip the bushings on the other side they spin freely Can i keep the bushing on the other side?

That's an interesting approach. Never seen that done before. I suppose if you glue it in place it may work? Its probably not ideal.

@@Fentynl. that box is basically a WI 3.0 with a modified mag plate, there shouldn't really be any issues. try slim bushings.

@@lowguidoschopshop yeah i had to mod my sper gear for it to work in the 8mm shs bushings cos it kept hitting the beval bottom bushing if that makes sense but now the gears cant be shimmed cos they are lock tight when gearbox is closed :p

Im sure I have done it in one of my videos... the process is the same. internals for the J10 are the same as the gen8. only difference is that the motor for the J10 lives in the pistol grip.

@@jamescrabtree140 yes it is a pain in the ACR. But you can buy a replacement cap for the grip that has adjustment like the M4.

And the public backlash against them has been absolutely massive. The individual, despite having a miniscule amount of pot on him, already has far more public support than the police. And rightly so IMO - dude wasn't driving high, nor was he waving blasters around in public. It gives me a little hope for this country... just a little. The day we start banning everything on the sole basis that it was used by some dickhead to do something stupid is the day I emigrate to the States.

shimming spur gear first is the WRONG way to shim a gearbox. Bevel to pinion, then everything else follows. We leaned this in airsoft about 15 years ago

Should be, unless you're unlucky & get a crappy set of gears. Chinese QC is a bit iffy.

@@zjbjproduction If you've got the savvy to upgrade a spring, then you can replace a set of busted gears, they're as cheap as chips. :-) I think the engineering term is 'destructive testing' :-)
