Hi I purchased a 16 pro after watching your video… I got two active target 2 I have one mounted in the scout position and one facing forward… How do I show both views at the same time? I can build the screen and have the two views but it shows the same view on both screen. It be great to have a video on how to do…. Thanks

Looks like its back to garmin. LVS34 appears to be a MUCH better picture. Lowrance didnt add any new color options or gain controls like garmin. They missed the mark on this one

Getting real fed up with the Lowrance I've been using them for 15 years and ever since the 3d structure scan came out they've been telling me you don't have to buy another unit and for the last 6 or 7 years every new product involves buying a complete new system to get the best imaging. I'm going to Garmin for live sonar not upgrading Lowrance again.

Well Garmin gives you the same option with Livescope... But Lowrance now has 2 new views that Garmin doesn't.

Fishing electronics are crazy expensive to begin with and now they want you to double the price to use a couple different views that all you have to do with Garmin is rotate the transducer around to achieve. I've searched but can't find any reference to beam angles transmitted by the probe. It would be important to know these angles to know what surface is being scanned. Do you have this information? Thank you.

Great video and explanation of the new AT2. I have an Elite FS9 on my kayak and am thinking of getting AT for next season. If my unit resolution is only 800x480, what's the benefit of the higher resolution in AT2? Thanks

You'll see improved clarity and a smoother image overall on AT2 regardless of which unit you put it on. It's more the software that's going to clean up the image then the actual screen resolution. However, screen resolution will play a role once that new cleaner image is being displayed, but you'll still be fine on it. FS9

I think it’s great if it works the way they say it will. I have AT1 and it works well, and I sure can’t afford the new system for sure but there will always be something better out there. Wait a couple of years until something better comes out and the AT2 will be cheaper. Thanks for showing us this preview!

hm. 180 degree view seems very attractive. if it is possible to place them side by side (not one pointing forward and second - backward), so the beams would cover say 18 + 18 degrees forward --- that would be rly cool. but, as I guess, we have to wait until someone gets one to try it out.

We have been able to do this all along...just not having the beams fully integrated together and you had to make sure there wasn't beam overlap....The blue wire should fix the possible overlap issue now!

Could you use Active Target 1 connected to one HDS Live and Active Target 2 connected to another HDS Live? I realize you wouldn't get the new views, but maybe you could switch between forward and scout without changing the mount?

Yes, you could do that. However, you would not be able to use the 180 view or the scout wide view in that case because both would have to be AT2 systems

Personal i'd get Lowrance... But I will be the first to admit that Livescope is better than active target. I don't like the Garmin units as much the Lowrance and AT is good enough for me.

1st, Garmin didn't eliminate the ghost on lvs34, you can minimize it with image sacrifice.

@@InDepthSonar still weak connections. They fixed the cable relief/overmolding at the transducer end. But do not put any strain or angle on the connection to the GLS10. Made in Taiwan is the issue. Can't upload pics here.

There's not much out there right now. But from what I've heard, it's just going to be a scout mode bracket that's included in the box positioned at a different angle. You'll get a second one which will be the traditional scout mode bracket that we've had with AT1

Has there been any talk about eliminating the lag in either AT1 or AT2? This is one area where both Garmin and even Bird outshines. That delay is tricky when fish are super aggressive and chasing fast. I heard a rumour from Lowrance reps at a recent sport show that a man upcoming software update is supposed to reduce it for AT1 but can anybody confirm?

I haven't heard anything like that in any Lowrance reps. I've talked to have really downplayed the delay. I hopefully they can get that adjusted to where it's instant because it is noticeable, especially when you've been using a livescope and then getting a boat that has active target

Thanks for the review, INHO it's not worth it at this point for the upgrade. What Would be a game changer for me is if they can integrate the separate CPU unit into the Fish Finder to make it one less component to lug around.

Having the AT module in the pro would be nice but that would drive the cost up of the MFD so even people who didn't want it would pay for it and that would hurt total sales. Humminbird (and the first Garmins) built the module into the transducer to get around that

@@InDepthSonar they could license the feature assuming hardware could be cheap enough to manufacture. Humming bird doesn’t look all that Stella either. As transistors are getting smaller they can cram in more powerful chips. I’m in the telecom industry and this is wheat all vendors are all doing. License control is a flexible way to market to a wide range of audience.

Garmin has had it for about a year now, but you can only split screen view. They haven't stitched the images together so I'm sure they're not far off. The other one ...Who knows lol

I have a Live 12 with Active target 1 currently. If I get An Active Target 2 system and use that instead will I get the better resolution then my current Active Target 1?? This is confusing x2!

Yes the AT2 will give you better resolution on a Live unit. Just need a software update from Lowrance on your Live and it'll be compatible. You won't be able to run the dual systems though for those additional 3 views

Yes. As far as I can see, that is correct. I saw one post on a Facebook forum for somebody claimed The AT1 box would give 10% better view with an AT2 transducer but definitely have not confirmed that from Lawrence on my end

@@InDepthSonar so if you connect the A/T 2 transducer into the A/T 1 module, the clarity will improve by about 10%, the box and transducer do show some improvements

I would like to see Lowrance integrate the target lock rather than the at2 it only take me a minute to change my at transducer in a different mode to spend an extra 1600 just to not have to change it manually not worth it unless u just like to have all the new toys to say u have them

They should build a transducer that allows you to switch between forward and down without a physical rotation. I agree that should not be in two transducers or actually we should be saying two systems. And you're 100% right that a target lock type system would be much better than a dual active target system.

I think we've all thought that as forward facing sonar gains popularity price will come down like most things. But anglers have shown they'll buy it even at the prices it's at and probably even more because of how valuable a tool it is. So the manufacturers don't really need to drop the cost because it consumers know they need the product.

The AT1 boxes and transducers will be a lot cheaper on the secondary market soon enough. Once this is available no one is going to buy AT1 retail, so you can pick up one from someone who is upgrading for less than $1000 I'd imagine.

I agree. However, because they came out with a new module for AT2, I have a feeling it was more than just software that was limiting them. Sounds like a hardware issue as well. I just talked with some Garmin reps the other day and they said that their GLS 10 module that the livescope uses is going to be good for another few generations as well. Due to the processor in it, they're only using half of the processors power right now with the LVS62

With today's technology you would think they can make that from one transducer. The technology has advanced so far the average tournament fisherman can't afford to be competitive. The technology advancement is really cool though.

They can for sure. It would just be adding more elements in the transducer. That would drive the cost up though so I think with the dual option is easier for them to keep the R&D work down and only have 1 sku to do both

Lowrance had a known issue with their fish finders not communicating with the transducer. There solution, buy a new unit. No thanks... I'll stick with Hummingbird

@@InDepthSonar It's been a while but some flaw in the software that caused the units to not recognize the transducer. I think they called it "the dreaded 000 code" so the units would only function as a GPS. It was a very common problem. I think it was the Hook Series but it's been a while. Lowrance solution to the problem was to buy a new unit. I did, a Hummingbird. Problem solved

Well, if you buy a Livescope it'll actually cost you the same amount of money and you won't be able to do as much. Garmin has had a dual livescope system for over a year now, but Lowrence is now including these stitch together views. So in the end you do get more from Lowrance for the same amount of money.
