One (among many) of the things Low always does perfect on every album is the opening song, and HEY WHAT is no exception. I love how they challenge the listener just enough (the intro and outro) to shake things up, but not so much that it's off-putting. Low never goes wrong. Can't wait to see them live in 2022! ❤️

I listened to HEY WHAT after my dog woke me at 3 in the morning here in Britain. I love how complete this feels as a record. Like some of the previous comments have said here, the sequencing of the album is flawless. You can’t just listen to one song. You feel shortchanged. It’s like you need to listen to the whole record to get the truer vision of the piece. I can’t wait to see how this translates to a live setting. I hope you guys haven’t completed your work with Steve. I can only imagine how funky the outro to Days Like These and Hey would kick with his flawless bass playing. It feels beautiful to be follower of your work. The continued unexpectedness of the sonic directions you both take is riveting.

I wonder if "White Horses" refer to whitecaps on the big lake. In Duluth, when the wind picks up from the NE, it gets cold and harsh, the lake kicks up with white horses. Not as much with the other directions, the big waves come in from the NE. But, that cold NE wind will blow you right back home if you can stand the white horses. Being out there, heading back in a NE with the white horses, gets a little anxious for being rough and cold but at the same time you know you're making it home, it's just a matter if you arrive unscathed.
