Great job. I own the Vessel and love it. Great to hear it compared to others. At $99 you just can't beat the value and performance of the A3SE

The red sounds much too harsh in my opinion. It's certainly got energy, but I prefer a more natural/real sound. I would choose the 2M Blue.

I'd read a bit about the Vessel but not heard anything, thank you for this clip. From this clip, I really like the Vessell's sound, warm, doesnt lack top end but smooths it out which I like. I would really like to hear similar comparisons of the A3SV and A3SM pitched against thier respective competition - Goldring / Nagaoka / Sumiko etc. Shame right now the AUD is so weak against the USD, it makes any purchase difficult as everthing basically doubles - then add postage. That said, global health is a priority, so once this has passed i'll be looking at something in the Vessel set for sure.

I own the Vessel and the Ortofon 2m Blue. As someone below stated, it is easy to hear the higher output of the Blue and conclude that you are getting extremely better sound. When adjusted for gain, both units are wonderfully responsive with moderately higher dynamic range possessed by the Blue. By the same token, the Vessel is a bit softer around the edges, which I very much enjoy for some vinyl selections that actually can sound slightly shrill or fatiguing with the Ortofon Blue playing. Each has its place and obviously, the Blue being 2.5X the price of the Vessel means it will likely distinguish itself a cut above the Vessel.

Hi! Nice vid! I just got my at lp120xusb but I was clumsy and I didn't noticed it had no tone arm height adjustment like the previous 120 model. Did you make any adjustment to calibrate the tone arm? The Vessel beats slightly the blue. The red has that sibilance I can't quite enjoy.

What is the standard tracking for the Vessel A3SE, I read it was at 2.0gms or can you set it at 2.5gms on the Denon DP-300F. It seems to track better at 2.5.

As so many have said this comparison is about preference, all three perform well. For me the Red is definitely the "brightest", and one might say has the most clarity, but is that at least partly due to taking out some mids and low end? I feel like I might be more prone to ear fatigue with this cartridge, but maybe I'm passing too much judgement w/out having it as part of my own system. The Blue seems to provide the best of the Red while correcting the aforementioned. The A3SE is nicely balanced as well, but is just a smidge behind the Blue, but comparing prices between the two I'm going with the A3SE.

Very nice job with the synchronization and level matching. Unfortunate choice of music.

The higher output of the om carts really show in many of these comparisons and many mistake it for brighter sound. You put a 3.5mv against a 4.2mv without adjusting for the higher output the 4.2 will always sound better. I think that's why the om carts always seem to sound better to people I these Don't get me wrong, I love my om blue but it's Abit of a trick unless people are equalizing output in audacity.

some like that blanket over the speakers sound, some like there sound defined and airy they wanna hear every detail,, thank god there are cartridges for everyones taste, pick the one that suits you,, Me personally i could never run a grado gold or a lp gear vessel, im more of a ortofon om 30 audio technica 440ml shure m91ed nagaoka mp110 type of guy
@@lpgear8605 thanks! Any chance of you doing this with Brain Damage/Eclipse? Seeing as most cartridges would sound good on the beginning of the LP side.

In terms of value, there's no contest: The Vessel. And if you've the money for the 2M Blue you should be looking at the A3SV instead. The Blue is the of the carts shown here better, but 2.5x the price. I'd have liked to see the A3SV in the mix here. I've had many a cartridge combo over the years and the 2M Red came with the only *new* turntable I've bought in 30 years. Given all the great reviews I expected more and stuck with it for quite a while trying to like it. I don't.

Vessel seems warmer. Some sibilence. But better low end. The om blue is beautiful but when using headphones it can get fatiguing during long listening sessions. I like the vessels sound. And for price difference no contest.

I hate this song. There rest of the album is obviously incredible. This just doesn't sound like it fits at all. Oh, love the video, mate.

Agree 100%. The record company execs made Floyd put this cut on the record so as to have a "rock & roll" track for radio play. Stylistically, it has no relation to the rest of the album.
