When I first discovered LP, I honestly thought I was watching an androgynous man perform. I was happily taken off guard by an androgynous woman. I mean both of those terms with love. I’ve always loved music for its capabilities, and the people that could drive music forward as invaluable. I discovered LP 2 days ago. As a Mars Volta fan, I’ll admit my ignorance. Once it was time for the singer to sing, I was not expecting that voice. But at that moment, I heard what I’ve been waiting for. LP. Is Classic in the sense that music is appreciated in a classic sense. But LP is important because while paying homage, LP is making space for a new appreciation. I was happily taken by surprise, and LP’s musical capabilities go far beyond any other classification. LP, as a fan, please keep giving me the best music I’ve been fortunate to experience in recent years. :)

A friend sent me a link to lost on you live and i thought this guy is genius and has the most unique awesome voice ever for a male vocal i txt my friend after watching video 20 times in a row just floored and said wow and she said yes I love this Womans music and I thought my friend had just listened to the song and assumed he was a woman. Then I thought just a minute lol did some google and sure enough I was the fool. She is my single most favourite artist and person on the planet at this time she's brilliant, no ego everybodys artist a true phenomenon talent.

The thing with Laura, is that it's not just she is an icon for lgbtqi community but all human beings because in her, we see some who isn't hiding their true self and most of us are. As a heterosexual female, 55 and interested in psychology, I have been trying to figure it out, why I felt so attracted to her. I realized it's because she is so authentic, so real, so unashamedly comfortable in herself and by comparison, I am not. I'm so careful about so many things, care too much about what others think, that I feel trapped and not really myself. I think many of us are like that, so it's only natural that those living in darkness should be attracted by light.

And also that is your ego wanting to be accepted ( this is not a condemnation, we are all like this) I freed myself from others judment and the need to be love and feel better than ever !! I LOVE LP, her music and her approach to her identity. She is refreshing on all fronts and My favorite new artist. Aside from her unique musicality LP has the ability to reach across many lines and bring people together thru her music. I first listened to Lost in You on a Spanish speaking facebook page that titled her video, 'the most beautiful song ever written' so naturally I was intrigued and amazed. Keep in mind that I am Latina, 55 years old and a staunch Classic Rock and Roll fan. This gal is going places with her music and her natural charm that comes from being herself. One of the things I most relate with LP is her attitude of "I don't care". It's not meant to be a hateful comment. It means I don't care what you do, who you love, what religion you practice, what language you speak......etc, I accept you. And, I believe in humanity and that most people will give me the same respect. If you dont, that's on you and I don't care. Just love her to pieces!!

I have a friend from high school who LP reminds me of, she’s authenticity herself completely, which is so difficult to do. Especially when so many people in society push their ideas of who we should be on us.
