Great video Lakey, as always. Enjoyed the break down of your thoughts on surfing Pipe & also which CI board is for which type of wave on the North Shore. Just watching John John & Kelly surf Pipe I have noticed, that what sets them apart from others is their natural ability to listen to their gut instincts when surfing Pipe. I see others just trying to mechanically surf Pipe and this does not work. Lakey you have a strong gut instinct when it comes to surfing...keep taped into your gut instincts when surfing Pipe VS letting the fear get in your head too much. I know this is easier said then done. But you have a stronger mind then your competors!! Just my two cents for what it is worth. 🤔 You are taking all the necessary steps to gain such great experience for the up coming Pipe Masters 2023. You should be proud of yourself for taking these opportunities NOW to get more comfortable with Pipe in 2023. You are chasing Pipe swells just like the pro male surfers do to gain more experience. This will set you apart Lakey from your female pro surfers for the Pipe Masters 2023. Great job for taking your "off season" time to chase Pipe swell...do the same for Chopes Tahati (and the next Olympics). You're going to do great in the Pipe Masters 2023!! 💪🌊🏄🏾‍♀ take care.

❤ good morning :) its just me, waking after a somewhat sleepless night (and having people mess with me and the car), and whatever this terrible flu / cold / covid thing is, still remains. anyway, just watching some vidz and decided to watch this one again. pump up song changed from ellie goulding back to the lifelong standards of: inxs - dont change, siouxsie and the banshees - dazzle, or the cure - push :) also, rewatching the pipe section, i think, i always thought id want to surf pipe, but being in a place of absolute realism (and realizing that my physical condition is so much more impaired than i thought or had hoped regarding wave riding of any kind, despite many years of experience and a decent level of skill, pipe simply looks unattractive to me. if i was even capable of taking such risk, which i clearly am not, the crowds would be deterrent number 1. deterrent number 2 would be the reef and its dangers, which basically would be said for hawaii entirely, unless able to access a purely sandy beach break. the same would apply to any and all tropical breaks around the world where reef is the bottom (unless completely covered by thick padded layers of sand, which im guessing does not exist (im not interested in cuts and scrapes, infected painful wounds, and scars, or breaks / bruises from impacts on hard reef (i have enough scars), for the sake of waves. its simply not worth it for me. deterrent number 3 would be the dangers of pipelines waves themselves, which as we all know, you far more than me, are dangerous and deadly. so basically, its never going to happen for me, which i knew was the case, but seems so with far more certainty than ever now. thus, its even more enjoyable to see you and others charging it :)
