I just ordered the complete product several days ago, and received it, in two days time from Amazon. I am extremely pleased that the package contained Aluminum tank support feet, instead of the rubber ones, because I had heart nothing good about them in reviews. However, the sensors are amazing, and I am very excited to install and use them. Thank you so much for the video.

Good review. We've had our Mopeka Tank check for a little over a year now. Really nice. Just push a button and almost instant level check. The free app for use on phone/smart device as shown is simple to use and allows for multiple tanks to be monitored (verses just 2 on the monitor). Price well worth the convenience in my opinion- just cool. The new kits are now including the aluminum spacers.

FYI, you can update the monitor for a 20, 30, 40 or 50 LBS tank...Just hold the button and wait for the lights to change to a single light. The lowest is 20 lbs, and the highest is 50lbs.

Thanks for the review, I wonder will this system work on a 13 gallon horizontal tank affixed to a motor home?

Will work on horizontal tanks

I use this system on two 40lb. Propane tanks and it works well. I do notice sometimes it may take a bit, 15 minutes, for it to sync but it works well.
@jvgomes733 жыл бұрын
So just out of curiosity when you guys adjusted the calibration to 40 gallon tanks were you able to get an accurate reading or do you still have to wait until it gets halfway down before it will tell you how much is in there

Hi Tom, thanks for the review. Do you know if the sensors can be calibrated for different size tanks, so you can get an accurate reading for tanks larger than 20lbs?
@theamazoner40755 жыл бұрын
they will get accurate readings most of the time how ever the monitor panel will only work for 20lb tanks and the app works with 40+lb tanks

Any concern driving down the road and the magnetic sensor falling off and loosing it through the lower hole?
@RoadGearReviews7 жыл бұрын
Not really, The magnets are really strong. We have put on about 1200 miles some of it rough dirt roads without problem.

Do those sensors have a port for an external power hook up? I can see something at 1:57 but I cannot find any detailed product specifications.

That's a tab you press to open it to change the battery.

I purchased a pair of these several years ago with high hopes and expectations. The concept is great, but the practical results are less that marginal. I have had to contact the company several times and had one sensor replaced by them and have also purchased an additional set. So far all have had similar issue. My tanks are mounted inside a storage compartment on each side of my 5th wheel trailer and are protected from the weather. I have not had a single sensor assembly work more than 1 complete season of camping. Issue #1 - The tank sensor assembly is extremely hard to open when batteries need replacing (about 2 times a season). A very small tip screwdriver is needed to pry the case apart. Issue #2 - Both the magnets and sensor cover membrane stick to the bottom of the propane tank after being installed. When removing the sensor assembly from the bottom of the tank to change batteries magnets and sensor cover can pull loose from the assembly case remaining stuck to the tank. Magnets can be glued back in, but the sensor protective membrane is trashed and in short order the entire assembly will not work, most likely from moisture intrusion. Issue #3 - After battery change, manty time the sensors will be detected by the app, but do not correctly provide tank filled status. The attached photo shows status being reported for both of my 30lb tanks. One tank is completely filled, the other is one cooked meal with the camper stove shy of being full. As you can see, both thanks show empty with sensor quality showing no stars. This is a sure indication both have failed and are once again useless. Although the company has been helpful, I do not recommend these unless you just like throwing money out the window.

But how do you change the batteries on the sensors?

It's easy, a small screwdriver will pry it open. It takes a common battery, 2032 I think.

Thanks for watching here is the link to the system on Amazon here - amzn.to/2hlf7Gd *Affiliate link Updates on this product - After using this for another year we have had a problem with one of the units magnets coming out of the plastic base. It was simple to glue it back in however. A problem we are having with both the units is the rubber cover over the sonar has stuck to the tank and come off every time we remove it, seems to be degrading a bit. The units are still working well however and have only required one battery change. 8-31-18

The original was not programmable and only accurate on the 20 lb. tank. The second version was programmable and works accurately once programmed to the proper size tank.

I find the battery life to be disappointing. Not being a full timer my propane usage is not very high and I find that I have to replace the battery before I need to fill the tank.
@theamazoner40755 жыл бұрын
try closing the app not just leaving it like open in the multi task window and basically shut down the app or in more simple terms you can't let the app run in the back ground otherwise it will drain the battery very fast, as it will update the tank levels very often. hope this helps

That is true, and how we usually do things. Being off grid in the middle of nowhere however we sometimes push the propane use so as not to have to go to town. This is great for those circumstances.

I have had this system for about 2 years, and would NOT buy it again. Two sensors have failed, out of warranty, and this means a $50 replacement. Batteries only last about a month. On my rig they are a PITA to get the tanks out to change the batteries. You nearly break the case every time to open them to change batteries. They were accurate when working. The magnets are very strong and never fell off a tank. Again, I do not recommend this system. Good idea, but poor application. I also pointed out to Mopeka that when no cell service was available, neither was the use of the phone app. They denied this saying its bluetooth, and not cellular dependent. They are wrong.
