This presentation is simplified. The compressor will suck vapor from the tank at a fairly low pressure. When the gas is compressed the temperature of it will increase as will the pressure. There is always a connection between temperature and pressure. ( See Molidiare diagram) The temperature and pressure will variate depending what gas you are working with. The temperature of say propane would be around 120 degrees centigrade. To lower the suction temperature on the second stage the gas will pass through a intercooler. This one is partly fill with liquid cargo. The gas then passes through the second and possible third stage before it goes into the condenser. The pressure will now be fairly high so it becomes liquid. Heat is then removed with seawater, Freon or possible propane. Propane will have a pressure of about 12 bar at 30 degrees to remain liquid. When the cargo is sent back to the tank through a reduction valve the pressure as well as the temperature drops and the cold fluid goes back to the tank. Minus 42 degrees for propane. The two chemical gases butadiene and vinyl chloride monomer (VCM) will only go through a one stage compressor. For these the temperature most not go above 90 degrees for VCM and 60 degrees for butadiene. If that happens they will polymerase and become rubber component.

At around 7:00 min u say that vapour will pass through expansion valve which is not correct fact which is happening there. Also technically its not an expansion valve,its a level controller.The expansion happens because the valve opens to control the level of the liquid in the receiver. An expansion valve is one which opens up for doing expansion like in the case of an AC or a refrigeration plant. But i appreciate ur efforts in trying to make others understand the concept. Please continue ur good work. We need more engineers in the market who are conceptually correct in LPG reliquefaction plants.

I agree mostly except the expension valve. Due to expansion the liquid cooled down, This I agree, however and expending liquid should have HIGHER pressure (Bernoulli's equation). Anyway, you are doing an amazing job and do correct me if I am wrong.

Liquid entering in narrow pipe leads to Higher pressure. Liquid exiting from pipe which is getting broader, thus pressure reduces.

Hello , i have a doubt how butane and propane is cooled to different temperatures in compressor . what the settings to get -5 and -43 respectively ?
@SailorVikas
@SailorVikas 3 жыл бұрын
If you are loading butane, you will receive a cargo with a temperature declared by shipper, let say it's 1 degree so even if u try to cool it further it won't cool after certain temperature because of its ingredients ...because it's not always pure butane....there are other gases mixed in it which you will find in inspection report after cargo sampling....if butane is getting cooled more than normal (-2 degree) than it has Ingredients of propane and other cargo mixed in it which leads to more cooling. Same goes with propane...if it's getting more cooled than normal (-42 degree) that is coz of its ingredients present in it. Talking about settings to be done in compressor, every compressor has different parameters to meet ....to obtain required temperature of cargo, this is you find in cargo compressor manual, for every cargo it's different, compressor has 3 stages and all have different parameters at different stages( pressure and temperature) by adjusting inlet outlet vavles to get desired temperature. However as I told earlier , you won't get -42 for butane coz of it's ingredients present in it and you can't compress a gas after certain limit ( otherwise tank pressures will go down), which restricts a gas to be cooled further.
