Ngl it seems that your comment is quite ignorant. But I don't think you are saying it from ill faith so I will point this out. Atleast from EUW perspective there are a ton of amateur tournaments and leagues that even I have participated in league of legends. In fact if you are a low diamond or lower player you can google amateur league euw. Search a few discords and join a league if you have 4 players that is or a team accepts you. Its not that difficult. So saying there is no grass roots scene is not entirely correct. Plus the vast majority of high elo players that give a fuck are already trying out or playing for low level professional or academy teams.

counterpoint, the existing league is already a monopolized industry that severely underpays their support staff (anyone who isn't in uniform playing a sport). The community is only people that enjoy the sport, it is a greedy and despicable industry that shouldn't be supported.

The funny thing is with the European Super League is that you would not get the highest level of competition with this lineup. The current knockout phase of the champions league comparably has stronger teams. These ESL teams just have name recognition. If clubs need more money, how about reducing expenditures - the transfers and paychecks are ridiculous.
@lordkubikum3 жыл бұрын
Florentino perez said the maximum wage for the team salaries was capped at 55% of team's income in the Superliga tho. Maybe that's why PSG sheik didn't like the idea, because his infinite money would't matter. @bossman53703 жыл бұрын
There are some fundamental misunderstandings around the issues with the European Super League in this episode. Decisions have been made exclusively by club owners, without any consultation within the clubs. Obviously there are massive business benefits involved, but its fundamentally an anticompetitive move, very much apart from the European football ecosystem. The football world, except unengaged fans, are disgusted. The hundred year long history of clubs is being shit on. Former fans of these clubs are being called "legacy fans" in PR messages by American ownership. To expand on the KT analogy, it would be as though RNG, SKT, FPX and RNG were purchased by Western owners, and then removed from the LPL and LCK to play in a league against G2, FNC, C9, and TSM, with the addition of there being no repercussions for poor results, since there would be no Worlds and no MSI.
@arka2673 жыл бұрын
1:16:00 LS always speaks about champions do not scale by themselves, they always scale compared to other champions ( let's say for example that you have a ryze mid vs an orianna or a xerath and top there's a malphite for the ori team vs a renekton for the ryze team: ryze won't be scaling in the game since he will always suffer from lack of range and he won't be able to splitpush due to the ease in which the Ori/xerath team will engage teamfights with Malphite ). So I don't get Nelson's criticism, either he didn't ever take time to understand what LS means with scaling or idk...?
@killuafan43653 жыл бұрын
It makes sense, ryze can always drop side lane waves mid game. Orianna is not as safe as ryze deep splitting, plus the team fight argument is flawed since renekton ryze team comp is a 1-3-1. Renekton will more likely be ahead of malph pre first buy and will lose herald. Team building isn't simply team fights which the LPL coaches. understand.

Dont take scrims result seriously. A LOT of teams troll draft ESPECIALLY LPL teams with their shitty "10 mins remake" or "no com" scrims bullshits. If you beat them in scrims then most likely you will get stomped on stage since they already knew wtf you are going to do. The most famous example of this was TSM in 2016. They got trolled HARD by Eastern teams in scrims and couldnt get out of groups cuz the teams they scrimmed pick the OPPOSITE strats and draft differently than on stage. G2 last year I heard was stomping people in scrims also BUT on stage Damwon raped them, Suning beat the living shit out of them and heck even TL took a game off them. So scrims =/= stage results. ESPECIALLY in the later stages where teams either STOP scrimming completely OR scrim with the intent to SPY on you

People dont play that way these days. I remember MLXG and XIAHOU always pandering to UZI like you should... bot is 2 players... if you get them ahead... 2 of 5 are winning then you also have bot prio and can stack DRAKES... which will help you LEFT ON AN ISLAND TOP LANER... so you basically have 4 roles ahead just by mid and jg playing for the ADC and drake control. Mid lane is shortest way to nexus but its also the closest lane to both top and bot... and can EFFECT THE MAP! I miss season 6-7. Really don't care about the UEFA, but at least try to come up with a good alternative instead of that joke. Had such a good time watching Ajax in 2018(?) despite them falling short in the end, so no idea how anyone would think this circle jerk would be fun. Use worlds as a qualifier for the super league. The top 8 teams that are doing well for a year could be rewarded with an invite to the super league for a year or a split. They must retain 3/5 players from their successful roster, and there should be immediate consequences if its made evident that the roster sucks or the org doesn't want to spend the money to maintain their high level. Consequences could be a 2 year ban from future super leagues. How's that?

Also, an eye test is an eye test, but I think that it is really important for the ‘best’ teams in the ‘best’ league to have an opportunity to definitively prove that they are better than the next tier down, even if that means having stompy games. Underdog narratives aside, it’s also really important for the accountability of these ‘best’ teams to actually have to prove that they deserve their spots. This is why I was really sad to see relegations go and why I don’t think that ‘super league’ teams should ever be in fully insular leagues.

More internationaal competition can be cool but should not replace the exciting leagues. The link with local teams need to exist, through competition and in the form of promotion system. Franchise is killing for real competitiveness, it's just a way for the biggest teams to steal the cake and share it among them selves : ). can't agree with their opinions on superleague, but as they say they are not soccer, football fans. As a football fan i think this is disgraceful and i don"'t think it will solve their problem. But to be fair UEFA proposal for new champions league format is shit as fuck too and as everyone say, they are a fucking mafia, every part of this is quite criticable

Football is nothing like league of legends you cant really compare them. An ESL is a terrible idea and would destroy 100s of British clubs. Its not for Americans its for local communities. That people watch it overseas is a bonus. I only watch and follow bolton. and many people do the same with there club.

Sadly Monte doesn't realise the social impact of an ESL.

And there are 100s of clubs not 12 and they will all suffer if this happens.

I don't think Thorin knows what he's talking about when he says the Dota machine learning developers lied about the system they developed (1:58:45). AI developers don't give a shit being good at esports or comparing themselves to pro-gmaers -- OpenAI built the Dota machine learning system to demonstrate aspects of what machine learning could do and to document the challenges that are involved. I guarantee none of them care about esports clout (cause why would they?).

Maybe the sponsers cared?

Because it’s not esports clout it’s about clout in general. Why won’t they talk up what they do when it affects employment in their field and everyone wants to believe that AI is the next big thing and that they live in exciting times. The “beating pros” thing in dota 2 also had a bunch of asterisks to it and as far as I remember they did also admit to guiding the AI. It’s gotten so bad that I assume most AI breakthroughs are “scams” in that there is always a bunch of fine print to what they do. If you ever manage to get to know anyone who actually works in AI and get them to talk honestly they will admit that they are akin to monkeys turning knobs
