You call that bad traffic? When I’ve been to LA, it was generally much worse. Of course, I live near Chicago, I invite you to try our traffic (also, you can eat at the Sweet Baby Ray restaurants). My last couple of west coast trips, we’ve combined the LA/San Diego area with Las Vegas. Vegas flights are often cheaper, and the Vegas airport is a better experience than LAX. The drive from Vegas to LA is about 5 hours or so, with some very nice sights along the way. The traffic is generally OK, until you are quite close in to LA.
