I sold it to a lady in southern Oregon fun Van but if I did it again I'd just do the 5.7 Vortec swap way easier.

I could probably make one this weekend

that's insane! From now one I will be looking at Astro Vans differently now. Such a sleeper. Sounds like it's still hooked up to a factory muffler, yes? Where did the LS1 come from?
@brandonmaddy8 жыл бұрын
Yes factory Astro Cat and Muffler. Will be changing it out at a later date

Just a couple questions. Does the gauge cluster work as designed? Any more videos on the build? This is exactly what I want to do with mine and I'd like to know what issues I'll have to deal with...thanks
@brandonmaddy7 жыл бұрын
Jon Williams Not really more videos of the build, Gauges all work AWD works I have a build thread over at Astrosafari. com under V8 swap. Custom Oil pan is tricky part. Lots of details

@@brandonmaddy would a trailblazer v8 pan and axle setup work
@brandonmaddy4 жыл бұрын
@@rustedratchetgarage6788 I thought about doing that you would have to swap the whole diff over, its probably doable but the Moroso low profile oil pan is an easier option IMO
@tombretschneider18445 жыл бұрын
very nice !!! do you have more details on that rebuild or swap?

Nice van quick question Did you have to change the fuel system

No just the lines from the fuel filter.

@@brandonmaddy thanks I'm doing a 89 astro van thanks for the help.
@brandonmaddy3 жыл бұрын
@@dalwyson1 Oh you will have to upgrade the fuel pump, 1989 pumps only put out 14psi max. You'll need 58-62psi to run an LS motor. I would just get a tank out of a later van and plumb that in. Should bolt right in

whichh oil pan did you use? did you do the trailblazer pan mounted diff??
@brandonmaddy3 жыл бұрын
Moroso low profile. I still had to dimple the oil pan by the front diff but other than that no issues no leaks

Any plans to A/C? Just noticed there's no compressor
@brandonmaddy7 жыл бұрын
ChillCosmos Has a/c now
@DG-xx5sc5 жыл бұрын
I used a kwik performance bracket truck pulley setup one. Saden sd7 mini compressor w/ few relays from switch and protection shutoff mode since it only had a positive wire compressor, Custom A/c lines total cost was $700.00 in parts w/ new evaporator, condenser, Freon, filter, oil, 3rd fan in front runs when switched on blows ice

Is the 5.3 plug and play in our awd vans? I have a 97 i wanna do that too

Rudy Cortez Hahaha definitely not plug and play. Lots of wiring and clearances to figure out

So not plug and play but is it a matter of re pinning or will the truck harness plug into the body fine once rerouted for clearance purposes
