Most of these players got sent back down to academy more than once and had to CLAW their way back to the pro stage...and were on a 8/9th place team that sold their LCS slot. What a fucking comeback story for the boys. I just hope the success doesn't only translate to this one series and they can take one or two games off of an Asian team. Bold prediction though: g2 beats their last BO3 and somehow draws NRG as their quarterfinals opponent.

Even given that, G2 isn't a pushover, they just were outclassed today. Ignar said in an interview that they had a sub 10% win rate in scrims, NA always levels up when their scrims are shit because we are used to it.

I think the biggest case they're making is for true team gameplay and coaching discipline. C9 might be better mechanically than the C9 of old, but we all remember that old C9 was the last NA team to play as one hand consistently. Recent C9 showed they could do it in certain comps, like playing around poke varus. But NRG are showing it's really ingrained in them that they share a vision and understand their roles in each game.

While G2 absolutely underperformed this series, NRG played so well and they should absolutely be proud of their whole team. This is not only the cleanest series as a whole NA has played internationally in YEARS(maybe ever, c9 vs AF 3-1 was also pretty clean) but i think as far as NA/EU rivalry goes this is probably the hardest a team got absolutely shitstomped.

NRG played very well versus G2 but, at the same time, they've had a very mickey mouse run. Unlike G2, they haven't beat or needed to beat a single LCK or LPL team. I think they will have a rude awakening in playoffs.

The only question is whether or not they'll keep playing as well as they did, but regardless they're just straight up a better team than G2 currently

C9 should learn from NRG. Having an ACTUAL SUPPORT WHO KNOWS WHAT HE SHOULD BE DOING AT ALL TIMES helps at lot and make a big difference in game. Also having a Midlaner who got hands and can communicate with his jungles helps at lot too.
