Can you imagine how much this legend would be worth in the 21st century ! Saw him and the other Leeds legends many times on the terraces at Elland Rd back in the late 60's and early 70's ....... I was at the game against Burnley when this guy scored two unbelievable goals ! Leeds fans would remember that game ! Superb footballer was Eddie !

Bobby Collins was the reason that I met Erica my wife. After he broke his leg in Turin, he made his comeback at Old Trafford on May 19 1966, the season being, the match had been delayed due to the World Cup. It was on a Thusday night, Thursday being Pay Day, so with two friends, we travelled on the train to Old Trafford, but, without thinking, we ended up in the Stretford End, The rivalry of today didnt exist then, so we fealt safe being there. Recently, George Best had openned a Boutique, and was photographed in the papers, along with Denis Law, pouring Champagne at the top of a Pyramid of Chapagne glasses, so that it would cascade down the pyramid into the multiple glasses bellow. Best didn't play that night (Probably, because he was a naughty boy) but Law did, and as I was shouting profanities at him, I fealt something soft glance across my head, as I looked around, there was three teenage girls, with red & white scarfs, the guilty one of them exclaimed at the top of her voice, Don't you dare call Denis, we chatted, but, unbeknown to me, by the end of the game, 1-1 draw, this 17 year old had fallen for me. They helped us back to the station in time for the train, we exchanged scarfs and (work) telephone numbers. She then throwed her arms around my neck, and desperately kissed me. As a reult, all of the Leeds ans on the train shouted a large cheer. Singing all the way home, (A 45 min Railway journey) to the tune "She'll be coming round the Mountain",,, " He's been to Old Trafford and he scored" by the end of the 1966 World Cup finals, just a few days before my 18th birthday, we were soul mates. We married the following year, and now 55 years later, still treasure the day that Bobby Collins made a comeback at Old Trafford for Lees Utd

His performance against Chelsea in the cup final at Wembley in 1970 is the best exhibition of wing play you'll ever see. He came to a football weekend course that I was on in 1978 and I'll never forget the feeling of looking across the pitch and thinking I'm on the same field as Eddie Gray.

Leeds seemed to beat Chelsea regularly in the Revie era but you won the two big games the 67 semi and of course the 70 final.

I'm a Derby fan since the 60s. Went through all the Clough-Revie fury. What I'd give now to be at Lorimer's bar with Hunter, Clarke, Jones and Gray and others. They're all quality people and enjoy a laugh. And couldn't Eddie play? (I bet he did nutmeg Big Jack again.)

Eddie Gray one of the greatest wingers of all time especially when he was in full flight dazzling to watch

My favourite player of all-time. If Bale is worth 90 million then this guy would be worth 95 million, ten times that when the bugger was playing football for Leeds.

@@ChristopherClarkeGuitarist Quite agree with you sir. Eddie was a very accomplished player modest too and in my view very Underrated. On his day he was on par with George Best. My late dad always said Eddie played Carpet football and was extremely concise and quick too.late 60s n early 70s I followed Leeds n thought the late Don Revie was God 'Shame n Unbelievable his Empire was destroyed not long after he left. Also thought Best Law n Charlton Formidable too and my local team then was Wolves and we had a Fab team with the likes of Doogan Bailey Parkes and Wagstaff also a good winger ..My kind regards sir ,Glynn n Greetings from Stourbridge West Midlands 👍🤝

@@ElectricSoulShow Cheers for your reply ,Wagstaff was very quick and extremely versatile. The Wolves side then were Formidable and Light years ahead of the current squad n all British players then too plus no ridiculous wages .Kind regards Glynn and greetings from Stourbridge West Midlands UK 🤝

Eddie Gray was sn amazing player, one of the best players to EVER play the game. His skills were & still are just amazing to watch. Some people talked about Best. Eddie a " TRUE LEGEND & GENTLEMAN " of the game & of Leeds United. His down to earth personality just pours out as much as his "SILKY SKILLS" were. My favorite player to have EVER donned a LEEDS UNITED shirt. My very very best to you and your brother Frank Gray. MOT, LEEDS LEEDS LEEDS !!!

I know that Leeds United have recently appointed a new manager - But I wish they had given the job to this man - Eddie Gray - Once more. He knows Leeds United through and through. And can see what the club means to him. We love him. Plus he was a great player. Injuries were the only thing that prevented him from becoming a bigger legend then he already is...

I remember the goal Eddie Gray scored against Burnley, in either 1969 or 1970 at Elland Rd. From the bye line he beat about six players in the most outrageous display of skill which Pele, Maradona, Messi and Best would have been proud of. His first goal in that game was pretty good too, an exquisite chip from about thirty yards. I think the commentator was called Keith Macklin of Yorkshire TV. He was agog with superlatives !! Eddie Gray was a fabulous player. I also remember him destroying the Chelsea fullback in the 1970 F.A. Cup Final at Wembley.

Billy was brilliant but Eddie was so good, he dipped a shoulder and went the other way. He had Velcro on his boots. He was our George Best. Archie his great nephew is the one to watch. My all time Leeds favourite a class act.

simple reason/s were that we had so many international players & competitions we were in, we had also the fixture congestion unlike today. I remember 1 interview where a Leeds player said they had their i/national players came back on a mon. 2 days later on the Wed they had a match for the 1st division championship & told NO you can't rest you play with or without your i/national players. NO REST. That's why we had so man many runners up. Not forgetting the robberv AC Milan & Bayern Munich.

Hardly credible to people now, Don hiding in the bedroom! 'Persuading' the headmaster to let him leave! I loved watching Ediie though, I first saw him in about 68, then I was a season ticket holder in the mid-70s, where he was still great, if more prone to being injured. Lovely man, too.

Having met his mum and dad, I suppose Don was promoting the lad's best interests. I wonder if he did any schooling at Leeds. Great story of Don withdrawing while the Doc had a try.
