Moving from UK to Australia 25y ago, Holden built the best car I've ever seen. Sad they got closed down by the later USA parent company and then tried to replace them with USA cars at 3plus times more the price, just hasn't worked, Australians have moved to mid range cars now and now have nothing to offer. So nice to see these cars being respected and made into an icon forever.
@DavidTron632 жыл бұрын
It wasnt GM that was to blame for Holden's shutdown. Essentially Holden was hemmorhaging money and had been for years. They relied on govt handouts for many years and when the then Australian liberal govt said no more GM had no choice but to close the operation down. Everyone blames GM but it was ironically an Australian government that invited them to build cars here many decades before after WWII (with govt financial assistance) so we would have manufacturing plants here should another war break out. The idea was we could then quickly turn those plants into building tanks and aircraft. And so it was the Australian government (notably Joe Hockey) who essentially told GM they could f#ck off. That act was nothing short of disgraceful after all GM-Holden had done for the economy for so many years. Of course, Holden didnt do themselves any favours by continuing to refine the Commodore which was described by some in 2014 with the release of the VF as the best value sedan in the world in its price bracket. The problem was by 2017 the world had moved on as had much of the Australian public, who had by now been buying SUV's and cheap rubbish from Asia for many years, and the glory days of the Commodore being the best selling car in the country had long passed. The liberal government decided that there was no point in continuing to fund the building of a car that the Australian public was no longer buying and so was the demise of Holden. The legacy we have as owners of the late model Commodores is the pleasure and enjoyment of driving one which largely only exists thanks to the Australian taxpayer.

Hey man just subbed to the channel, I’m about to LSA my SS with basically the same set up besides blower being ported. I had a question what’s the max the stock fuel pump can handle ?
@LosSS3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for subscribing. That’s a good question. Tbh I wouldn’t know, however I would say it is probably good up 600ish hp. If not mistaken it is very similar to the zl1 fuel pump. If you ever start to run out of fuel, you can do like a DSX aux pump along with you stock fuel pump. This is the route a lot of people take and also cheaper.

That is a great machine! Is your engine tuned on 93 Octane Gas or E-85? I have a 2009 Pontiac G8 GT set up very similar to your SS except I am running a Magnuson 2300 Supercharger at 10 pounds of boost. I also run E-85. That let's me pull a little more timing and it runs cooler than 93. I do have to use dual fuel pumps. It was tuned on a dyno to 715 HP on E-85, however on 93 Octane it makes 650 HP. You really have a beautiful machine. Enjoy that ride! Great video! 👍
@LosSS Жыл бұрын
Thanks! If I was to ever change the blower, I would go with a mangnuson or harrop 2650. I appreciate all the R&D those companies put into their blower. My car has a flex fuel tune so I can swap between fuels no problem. Most of the time this thing is on E, luckily for me I have 3 e-85 fuel stations within a 15 mile radius and typically have over 75% ethanol. Every once in a while ill run half a tank of 93.

@LosSS Жыл бұрын
I dig the gt350r. I had a buddy that had one and absolutely loved it. I'm not a big fan of ford but I'll take a gt350r or a single cab f150 with a ten speed. You can make great power NA or boosted and it be reliable. Just have to make sure you do the right mods and get the car tuned by someone that actually knows what they are doing. If you are staying NA, get some headers, xpipe, CAI, cam (stock stall cam or a cam with a bigger converter), and a tune and easily make 450-470ish. If you plan on going boosted, I would go with a boosted cam from the beginning or you can simply slap on a stock lsa kit and make 500-550 easily. There are sites that sell complete stock lsa kits for about 4-5k.

love your car and channel. Not tooting my horn here, just had a bbm moment! I’ve done more than a few thousand supercharger kits and builds. BBM VW. You don’t want water sucking into that low mounted intake. Near instant charger failure. Water as we know does not compress. Even heavy rain could kill your set up. The loose heaton and roots can pass fuel and meth injection. TVS is a hybrid roots twin screw design. In my opinion super risky passing any fluids. Twin screw Lysholm passing liquids will fail nearly immediately. Also with forced induction, keeping your filter away from heat is less important than keeping it safe from debris and water ingestion in my opinion. Peace, keep up the great work. Johnny B. PS. Unless you never ever drive in the rain. Or you will vacuum up water! Charger turbo failure sucks literally. Super siik build!_
