I’ve heard mixed opinions on how much a personal statement should connect back to why you want to attend law school. With the examples you gave, in a final draft would you connect these topics to your goals in law school, or is that not necessary? I guess to reword, is the personal statement a glimpse into the personality of the applicant or into why the applicant wants to attend law school, or both?

Would it be a good idea to write about playing a sport and what you learned from that sport and how the skills and tools you learned can be transferred to law school and how those same skills and tools you learned along the way from that sport can help you succeed in law school? And also your videos are so helpful coming from a family that really doesn’t understand this process, you have been a BIG help! Thanks a lot and keep em coming!

Glad to help! It sounds like a fine idea, but like I said, it's all in the execution.

As a police officer applying to law school, this is refreshing to hear not to talk about police brutality... I'm struggling with what to write for my personal statement, though...

Hi Steve. I had a question- most of the significant work that I've done has been in the field of gender equality and empowerment of marginalized identities, and that's also something very personal to me because of my own identity, so I'm torn between using that as a theme for the personal statement or for diversity statement. For my grad school apps where diversity statements are not asked for, I used that as the theme for personal statement, but law school is different. Could you help me out, here?

What if COVID-19 accelerated your career or was a positive influence? Should we stay away from this topic all together?
