It's amazing how far snowmobile technology has came since the 70s. And they still go through the snow just as good Back then as they do now just as fun. I can say that your 1970s. Skidoo went through the snow better than my 2005 SaberCat. Good video, man.

@@Fixin2Ride-Official- well, if you had, you'd know that ski's and tracks aren't the only thing that goes into getting the sled through the snow. those old things have, at most, 20 horse power engines. skis and tracks are important, but there's only so much you can do with tiny amount of horsepower.

Funnier than heck the other day, I have an old scorpion I race with and I decided to take it out trail riding with some buddy’s on property. The things lowered and wide (for ice oval) and it was still able to out ride and not get stuck like my buddy’s early 2000s sleds. Lol made me respect the old lady a little more. Great vid

My 2 Cousins and Me. We went thru about 10 Elans in our day. And one We put an Everest 500 in it. Drilled the mounts to fit. Had to modify the handle bars a bit but she fit and it went good. It was so powerful and it sounded cool. Your used to seeing a little 250 twin but a Big 503 sitting there. Now I Have a 4500 Citation and they are my all time favorite sleds. Fun Reliable and Fun.

Thanks for the ride. Those old elans, you have to keep your rpm up in the deep snow and as much air speed as you can muster in slush. Always a good idea to carry an axe and a good pair of snow shoes. The bush camp I worked in had an old OMC snow cruiser with a single piston. If you caught it right at top dead centre on the recoil starter, you could get the engine running backward and ride around in reverse :- )

wouldn't it be better to just get an old Tundra LT? Seems to be about the same thing with a long track from the factory. I'd like to see you put together a super light like this out of modern sled parts. I've got a Mountain Max triple with pipes and power galore and just accumulated an old tundra and find the simplicity and light weight of the tundra refreshing. I grew up with an old olympic 335 and it felt just natural to be back on the old bouncing tippy bubble hooded skidoo where most of the suspension involves seat padding and running along side while your recover vertical momentum.
