Unfortunately not everything went to plan. Cancellation of the first Avanti service from Euston |(1S37 0603 Euston - Glasgow) meant I wasn't able to get north of Crewe in time to see D400 working 1Z45.
Then late afternoon an axle counter failure north of Wigan resulted in numerous delays on the West Coast Main Line, including the class 37s due to work 1Z64, which were running light from Crewe and were caught up in the backlog at Wigan. 1Z64 eventually left Preston around 50 minutes late.
At that point I decided to play safe as I needed to get back south, so missed seeing the 37s on the tour
However it was a great afternoon, and in particular, D213 put in a fantastic performance

Great coverage you got by travelling by train. I noticed the group of enthusiasts which you was one of them when I was on the platform at Lostock Hall Station 😊

Cheers, thanks for watching. It did get a bit crowded on that overbridge at Lostock Hall. Maybe in hindsight I should have stayed on the station platform to see the 40
