Established players are better than paying a lot for unestablished freshmen
@JoeyjojoshabbadooКүн бұрын
Jakeem Jackson is not an established player at all, but he is a former elite recruit just like Kade Phillips, with three years left and at least some scant college experience. LSU has taken 4 CBs out of the portal already who were either elite best of the best as HS prospects, or at least solidly 4-star guys with big offer sheets, and they all were busts. With three years eligibility or more remaining for all of them. Whereas an FCS player like Zy Alexander actually became a quality starter. So hopefully the fifth time will be the charm with JJ. And there's definitely something to be said for already proven college players, even if their ceiling is lower.

I would not even say that BB is your #1 WR, not even close. Not even a sure thing he'd be a starter, depending on who else they get. But he is a productive, proven SEC WR, and at his best, a big time talent. Obviously he doesn't compare to Nabers. So you might call him a pretty fair swap for Kyren Lacy, who also had elite talent, but was a bit of a flake and never became the superstar his talent could have allowed him to become, but was still good. And unlike Lacy he's not 6-2/6-3. Like Lacy, it appears as if Brown is also a bit of an underachiever.
