Man alive I love listening to LSV play MTG while I’m also playing MTG. Is that weird? I can’t say I have a higher win rate while I’m actually paying attention to his games but he’s just got the perfect voice for the background “learning on tape” kind of thing.

I think the "Team Draft" premise gets LSV down weird rabbitholes where he skips over decent playables to hate out what he speculates his neighbors are playing, and does a little self-sabotage in the drafting phase

For every weird rabbit hole he skips, he also maneuvers/signals around things to an absurd level. It is bizarre, but I think it's just the different levels where at a certain point you begin to draft both the cards AND against others.

Someone should plot a line graph on LSVs assessment of Library over the yrs lol. I’ve been watching this dude draft vintage cube for yrs; quite the ride 🎢📈📉📈📉🎢 I think as recently as this past Xmas he had it, grudgingly, as 5th pick? Kind of mid-tier? Now it’s back in the top-tier, it seems, so my investing experience tells me it’s time to sell on Library as a pick 1 or 2 & wait for the inevitable buy-low opportunity, which should happen in about April or May The funny part is that this has been happening for many yrs. I don’t know if any other proper vintage staple has been quite as volatile as LoA, at least in LSVs eyes. Enjoyed the vid, as always, LSV!

I feel like LSV always gets bodied by From the Catacombs but never actually takes the card. Admittedly the watery grave was very good and taking a double black card before that is tough. However, it feels to me like there are other bombs LSV will contort his mana around (like Cryptic Command) but I just never see him take From the Catacombs. It is a five mana card, but my guess is it has a higher win rate when cast than even fractured identity or othari. I have to live vicariously through LSV's cube drafting so I just really want to see him play with the card instead of getting owned by it.

Oof, rough draft, good job keeping up your energy while losing. Keeps it fun. Edit: not sure how the "thanks" button works but get one when you can, I typically send some money to anyone I watch a ton of. If you ever get the drive or energy, would love to see some constructed based content. Especially, if you did like one video for each of the top meta games decks with some insight on the meta. Like if you played Modern Rhinos, what you'd side against the other top decks. If those sort of videos just don't do well or you're just not interested please disregard. Trying to get back into playing constructed, and it's been ages. You've helped improve my limited game across the board, so thanks!

Black Lotus I don't agree, that thing enables busted plays even as late as turn 5 or 6. Just look at any storm combo deck for example, and these aren't the only decks where this is true.

Something I've been wondering is if maybe this cube wants just a couple more one mana removal spells - it seems like the addition of really strong proactive plays like inti and ragavan has made games come down to those a lot. I'm also not sure what would even be good enough if that were the case. Maybe Innocent Blood?

Sure maybe they From the Catacombs the Shinobi next turn, but we can Tidebinder the trigger if it does end up hitting or trade Manglehorn and Tidebinder for it in combat.

No, you must find an artifact with mana cost {0} or {1} exactly. Artifact lands don’t have a mana cost which is not the same as having a mana cost of {0}.

People have this rating of Time Walk, Black Lotus and Ancestral as top 3. With Sol Ring also mentioned. Mana Crypt is up there for me personally. I think this card is underrated. I think it belongs in the conversation of the most powerful card ever printed. The cost of ZERO in your opening hand if you draw it is just so sick. For me i think it's actually the best cube card of them all. It's Mana Crypt or Time Walk for me as the best card you can open in cube.

You could have tidebinder’d the initiative trigger either time to either keep your opponent from entering the undercity or progressing along the track

I think the bounce lands are pretty bad. I don't think I've ever seen you take one other than last pick.

They are a mana combo with fastbond + lotus cobra (you can return the same bounce land you play since the trigger gets resolved after the land enters). They are pretty bad though, I agree.

I don't include Initiative in my vintage cube because it's such a janky feel-bad mechanic, and LSV's videos reassure me that's correct. Initiative games, cued off like 8 different cards, all seem to play out exactly the same, and make MtG look like such a bad and boring game

It is kind of strange because aside from green, the other initiative cards defend (blue) or take (red, both white cards) the initiative so well. From the Catacombs is the most varied, but the play pattern is still atrocious as seen in the second game - it looks almost like a person trying to 1-for-1 a player repeatedly casting Uro.
