Hey Joan! I love how you demonstrate it 😄 I just have a problem with the RT, no matter how hard I try it always comes off a little too loose and kind of clumsy and the twists don't look too good. but I have no problem at all with the LT. what am I doing wrong !?

Hello, your video is really great! I am currently trying to knit a sweater by Marie Wallin that calls for twisted stitches, however, the pattern is from a chart. I am afraid I am not too good at following off of a chart, but I just love this sweater and am determined to try it. My question is this: since you use two stitches to do the twisted stitch design, am I correct in thinking that when I make a twisted stitch , that it will count as two stitches on the chart? The first time I tried it I didn't have enough stitches left on the left needle.

I have a question. I’m pretty much a beginner to special stitches, but love challenges. My issue is, how do you repair these twisted stitches? I did the opposite stitches in 3 places, but didn’t see it for several rows. How can I go back to repair them? Thank you in advance.
@LawsOfKnitting2 жыл бұрын
Dishcloths are the perfect project to try new sts and to learn how to repair them as you need. Good for you for wanting to go with it. First a bit of advice...Always use a lifeline! I use a lifeline with every project. It has saved me countless hours of repair. Years ago I made a cable mistake while working up an intricate cable design on an afghan. I worked up to where I needed the repair and ripped down to the rows I made my cable twist wrong. Now, picture how the twist should have looked, carefully rework the twisted sts as they should have been, and work back up to where you at in your knitting. Wow! I have no idea how I missed your note here. Super sorry, Since it's been a while I assume you already found your answer...but, if not...I cast on all the sts needed and then divide them among all the double points I want to use.

I am so confused are there several different ways to do this stitch? I just watched on where they go into the back stitch first and then they simply knit the first stitch and slide them both off then I saw another one where they went through the front of the needle to the back and now I see yours. help????
@LawsOfKnitting6 жыл бұрын
Linda McNeely Hi Linda, I wouldn’t be surprised if there were lots different ways to work the stitch. My advice is to work the stitch the way the pattern designer what’s it worked. When you come to that stitch in a pattern look at the “Key” in the pattern and read how it’s done. 😃
@lindamcneely6 жыл бұрын
thanks Joan I checked the pattern and she does it the way you do. so I will stick with this one thanks again.

Are these the same as left cross and right cross but without using a cable needle?
@LawsOfKnitting5 жыл бұрын
They do look like they would be but each stitch twists differently depending on what technique you are using. My advice would be to work the sts the way the (pattern reads) designer wants them worked. The designer uses the cable or not depending on what look they want.
@veronicacarey79255 жыл бұрын
Laws Of Knitting , thank you. using the cable needle slows me down but because the project is underway, I will stick to the pattern instructions. Thanks!
@LawsOfKnitting5 жыл бұрын
@@veronicacarey7925 I may have misunderstood your question, so I want to add this...Yes, you can work a cable without a cable needle but I wouldn't substitute a cable for a twist stitch. This video from Knittinghelp will walk you through working a cable without using a cable needle (if you need the video help). I hope I answered your question. Veronica, I was reading a knitting book and read this fabulous article about twisted sts vs cabling. The article reminded me of your question so I thought I would share with you what I read. "The advantage of using the cable needle is that it does not warp the stitches quite so much, and gives a neater and flatter appearance. The advantage of using the twist method is that it is faster and more convenient to work." Fabulous, right? I hope this helps. ❤

@LawsOfKnitting8 жыл бұрын
Hi Shanterrie, I am sorry I am just now getting back with you regarding this. I am on vacation and not checking my messages as often as I should. No, you will not alternate the k1 and the LT. You will K1 and then do the LT across the row to the last st and then knit the last stitch. :)

What about the back side? You didn't show how to do the back rows. Are they suppose to be the same as the front rows?
@LawsOfKnitting6 жыл бұрын
Hello ~ Take a quick look at the pattern. All wrong side rows (back rows) are purl rows. You will simply purl every stitch on the wrong side rows (back rows). Let me know how it goes. :)

Isn't it suppose to be right twist three times and left twist twice.
@LawsOfKnitting6 жыл бұрын
Are you referring to row 7? No, if you start off with 3 RT and 2LT the whole row will be off. Just follow along with how the pattern is written and how I work the row and you will be good. To ease your mind...yes, you will be working 3 RT at times but not at the beginning.

This is an asterisk (*). You will see this symbol in knitting patterns. Usually followed by instructions that say "repeat from * to *". I hope this helps.
@watchgoose7 жыл бұрын
It's still asterisK not CH
@LawsOfKnitting7 жыл бұрын
watchgoose What is your point? I am aware of the fact I have a bit of difficulty pronouncing certain words; asterisk being one. But I am not going to let that stop me from helping others learn to knit.
@watchgoose7 жыл бұрын
Helping others learn is a great thing!; But words are spelled a certain way and should be pronounced that way. It's only information, up to you what you do with it. If you can say the word "risk" you can say "asteRISK" ;-)
