Work on Wallet Vampire 2 continues! In this video I cover removing the remaining parts on the 1990 LT500R. During the removal I share several tips to keep in mind while working on these dinosaurs. I've already found a few issues that are going to have to be addressed. I have a feeling these won't be the last of them. Next video I'll be doing some comparisons covering the differences in the model years.

Suzuki LT500 Quadzilla is a LEGEND!!! By the way, I’ve restored plenty of bikes and Suzuki is by far the best at supplying OEM Factory parts. I have done a 1976 RM370 and most of the parts were still available!! In my experience Honda is by far the worst when it comes to supplying OEM parts.
@QuadGuyCy
@QuadGuyCy 3 жыл бұрын
They really have been traditionally. Unfortunately it seems recently they've stopped supplying several parts for the 500. I'm keeping my fingers crossed it's just pandemic related. I definitely agree with the Honda sentiment, luckily they get so much aftermarket it's usually not an issue.

Awesome videos!! Please keep them coming! I just happen to be building an 89 that was a complete basket case. Hand to God, bought it off the back of a scrap truck. If I wouldn't have seen that the airbox goes in before the suspension, I would've been super bummed!!

I sure did! I believe you are correct, I'm pretty sure this is the one he said you guys had running last. You'll get to see what happened to the engine eventually, I've already started filming it. I'm a bit behind on editing and posting videos, I had some computer issues to resolve. Oh yea, had lots of mice in them! Tell your dad I said hey, hope you're all are doing well!

What did you do for suspension? My LT500 rides so rough but I am stuck to logging roads and some rocky creek beds or dilapidated rocky roads. The dunes are 10 hours away. Or is it just the way the Zilla is?

I had a 500 and regret selling it. I often thought about rebuilding one but was not sure you could get parts. Are parts still avaible?
@QuadGuyCy
@QuadGuyCy 3 жыл бұрын
Certain items are getting hard to come by. Transmission parts can be a killer. I know the shift shaft is currently unavailable, and I believe shift forks are unavailable as well. The issue lately is OEM parts seem to be influx, a decent number of things have recently shown up as discontinued but then a few things popped back up. It seems unclear if it’s pandemic related or they are just never going to produce them again. Calls into Suzuki of America haven’t been much help they really only tell you it’s currently not being produced and offer no additional information. Some of the long time zilla guys say this has happened before and to give it time. But building one is still possible you just have to accept that you may have to hunt for parts as well as get creative.

whats your plan for plastics?
@QuadGuyCy
@QuadGuyCy 3 жыл бұрын
Currently, you can still buy the OEM front and rear fenders, but unfortunatly not the blue hood. Maier still sells fenders and their hood, but in my opinion their hood looks a little goofy. I have several sets of plastics in various conditions, and a really nice set of white ones but I haven't decide if I'm going to try them out with a custom color scheme or stick with the old yellow and blue.
