I think an item that's basically that is the Warp Portal from Nicktoons Racing (PS1), if you're in 6th it will take you to first place. I'd be amazed if Mario Kart adds something like that considering how broken the item system is already

I think what he actually wants to say is, 'It was never this hard on Mario Kart 64'. It's the same game overall, but the race courses are so much more twisty and elaborate than they were 25 years ago. You can't just pick a heavy like Bowser, spend zero time memorizing the tracks on the side, or run into every wall and fence post instead of avoiding it, and expect to give any sort of competition to people that play this game on the reg. Even if it's a party game, it's still a *racing* game. If you're not constantly monitoring your lap time down to the millisecond, you're in the wrong genre of game.
