Lewis, if you don't like that oak backing plate paint it the colour of the wall and it will disappear into the background, but I like it, I think it looks alright ! And grapefruit are my cup of tea !!!!

Grapefruit, fitted one a double one of these the other week, turned out the wall was dot and dab, had to drill out the mounting holes in the wall and insert some 15mm dowel to go through the plasterboard and span the void and into the block work. Then fit as per normal,

Good effort Dude, and I’m not sure how many people have grapefruit in a fruit bowl, or even if fruit bowls are still a thing. Horses for courses, and I like a bit of oak, but I think the oak top rail would look better if painted the same colour as the wall. 🤷🏻‍♂ If painted, it could be any wood.
