Lu xueqi don't need him but Xiao fan needs her. I don't know how others ship biyao to xiaofan just because she sacrificed herself saving him. What Xiaofan and buyao have is mutual understanding knowing each others dark and sad past they're a camaraderie not lovers. Biyao is a sacrificial lamb for her father's ultimate goal(to rule) using Xiaofan.

A lot of people might not realize this is actually the 2nd time she has confessed her feelings to him. The 1st time was in episode 18, when he was kneeling on that mountain on a rainy night. Pity, he was half unconscious hence didn't know if it was really her. Anyway, her move worked perfectly this time. It removed all doubt and the MC's insecurity. From that moment on, there's only 1 person in his heart, her.

She's the first one in his life willing to risk her life for him. It must have got a huge impact on him as before she jumped off the cliff, he was never anyone's priority. Remember none of his senior brothers and sister came to cheer for him during the tournament. And She's the one who understands him and his struggles the most. She never really forced him to do anything against his will. Even Biyao sometimes tries to force him against his will (for e.g., asking him to leave his sect and join hers).

Biyao actually accepted that he would never joined her cult so on the Bamboo Peak the day before the trial, she asked him to run away with her, to somewhere far off, with only them together. She’s willing to cross any line and die FOR him. Xueqi cannot cross the responsibility to her sect line. Also through out the novel, she seems to be willing to die WITH him only. They both understand him, for Xuequ being very observant and Biyao sharing the same sad past full of trauma. But neither of them can come close to Jin Pinger who with inly a gaze can see right through Guu Li.

Biyao came in as a bully then an enemy who wants to capture xiaofan. After that they got trap on a cave, knew each other's dark past. Felt pity on each other and formed a bond of friendship. What they have is camaraderie not romance. Season 1 xiaofan love interest is his childhood friend not Biyao 😂

I guarantee you have never read the novel, which details many on the interactions between them and xiaofan’s inner thoughts about her. They literally gave her scenes away to biyao in the drama and in season 1 of the donghua😂. Also, lue xueqi was literally named after the author’s wife.
