The MC doesn't exactly know what love is in the beginning. I just like how now there is no mention of his first crush his --Shi Jie.

She's the first one in his life willing to risk her life for him. It must have got a huge impact on him as before she jumped off the cliff, he was never anyone's priority. Remember none of his senior brothers and sister came to cheer for him during the tournament. And She's the one who understands him and his struggles the most. She never really forced him to do anything against his will. Even Biyao sometimes tries to force him against his will (for e.g., asking him to leave his sect and join hers).

Lu xueqi don't need him but Xiao fan needs her. I don't know how others ship biyao to xiaofan just because she sacrificed herself saving him. What Xiaofan and buyao have is mutual understanding knowing each others dark and sad past they're a camaraderie not lovers. Biyao is a sacrificial lamb for her father's ultimate goal(to rule) using Xiaofan.

Bi Yao and Xiaofan only had mutual understanding because they had a thing in common(dark past). Lol FYI Lu Xueqi was also willing to sacrifice for MC in the cave scene where she jumped without hesitation to save him shows that the only difference between her and Bi Yao is that she didn’t die in the process of saving him. Biyao came in as a bully then an enemy who wants to capture xiaofan. After that they got trap on a cave, knew each other's dark past. Felt pity on each other and formed a bond of friendship. What they have is camaraderie not romance. Season 1 xiaofan love interest is his childhood friend not Biyao 😂
