I believe several things make them special. 1. is the size of them 2. how long it takes to grow a tree that massive. 3.the beautiful grain they produce. 4. you can't go down yo your local lumber company and buy this kind pf product. Thank you for asking... @@justinh2701

People don't understand how sad it is to see a tree that big have saw marks from being cut down. I guess it's possible some fell and were cut after but these are so old it's a shame they are not still flourishing on this planet. Along with billions of others

It’s not that we don’t understand. Many of us are woodworking enthusiasts, and we can recognize a tree that was laying in a bog or lake for quite some time. This tree was not cut down while it was alive-you can tell by the condition of the bark and the amount of mud that they had to wash off. It fell and lay submerged for a long time before it was discovered and sold to this saw mill. The saw marks that you are noticing were from cutting the tree into smaller, transportable sections. This section alone weighted several tons, so there was no way to transport it while it was still intact. Submerged trees of this size and quality are extremely rare-so much so that people literally hunt bogs and wetlands for them, as their full time occupation. When they are found and sold, they can change the socioeconomic trajectory of an entire family, lifting them out of poverty for generations, if they spend the proceeds wisely. So I, perhaps we, prefer to think of this as a life-changing gift from nature.

No need to be upset. The earth is meant to produce resources for us to use. Its a bigger waste to just let things grow and die without doing anything beneficial with it. Think about how many fruits off of trees just grow and decay because no one and nothing came around to eat them for example.

Who claimed it to be cut down? Silly Goose, trees die. Nature ya know….it’s a fact. Check it out with your local forestry department! Everything has a lifespan. Fact! What you are seeing is that in order to relocate hundreds of tons of a huge quantity of wood, it must be cut into manageable pieces. Hence the “cuts “ you see. Research first growth trees in Northern California for example. Then you can come back and post an apology to your videos creators. Just because you have led a sheltered existence doesn’t mean that the rest of the world is “bad, or taking advantage of….” Forestry once upon a time was done by axes and bucksaws. Now we use a tool called a chainsaw. That is what is evident in the ends of the tree sections you see in the video. 😊

How thick are the cuts on a tree of this size? It appears that it is a very thick cut, so you may plane and sand, or do you resaw to more reasonable dimensions? I am guessing, but it looks like between ten and twelve inches thick?

There is any number of reasons ,ide like to think it naturally fell over given its size as can't see a saw big enough to cut that down , and life on earth includes plants and trees and its a fact that one day all life dies. Do you think there are trees out there with Dino pee splattered up them , no they are long gone and for someone to naturally think someone needs to go to jail just take a look what your sitting on , it's more than likely made of wood

Five minutes of research: did a search for the largest trees in Asia. Seems the three largest are a cypress, a fir, and a meranti. Visual clues in the video indicate meranti. It’s a shame such a big tree was cut down, but it looks like it was cut down a long time ago, and it would be a shame that the wood was just left the rot.

Red kumquat, other names such as tiger skin, ca te (two-part nomenclature: Afzelia xylocarpa), is a species of plant in the legume family, growing in some Southeast Asian countries such as Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos and Myanmar. Characteristic Large tree, gray-white, rough bark. Low branching. The leaves are evenly pinnately compound, the leaflets are oval shaped, the tip has a blunt convex tip, and the tail is nearly round. Flowers are cluster-shaped, bisexual, white corolla, 1 petal, round shape with long claws. Glass-shaped bean pods. The fruit skin turns black when ripe. Seeds are cylindrical with edges, hard black seed coat, hard light yellow umbilical cord. The tree grows slowly, likes light, is distributed in evergreen or semi-deciduous forests, grows on flat land or drained slopes, deep soil layer, average soil mechanical composition.

It doesn’t matter if it was a giant redwood! This tree wasn’t cut for harvesting. It was already dead and down. The saw marks are from sectioning it for transport. All things in nature have a finite lifespan, and even sequoias die and fall down. Judging from the appearance of the bark and the amount of mud on this tree, this one had been submerged for some time before it was harvested. Trees that have been submerged in bogs for long periods are highly prized for their wood-people literally hunt for them in hopes of a huge payday.

You no not about what you say. Trees die. Fact, check with your local extension agent before posting your ignorance. Someone who knows better may call you out on your claims. Like ME! 😂

This is very sad and very much in keeping with what humans do with nature's glory. Cut it up and sell it off.

You would rather it rots and not be utilized for its beauty and benefits? Now that would be sad 😮 😢. Grow up and think before posting. Do some research about the situation before showing your ignorance. Please. Don’t sound like a jerk 😊

How about a Sequoia? In Northern California the trees there that naturally fall are adequate to build three or four complete houses. Modern BIG houses. Giants!
