Aunty, I cried while listening to this because it's my story too. It's not as easy as people say. Nobody will ever understand our pain and our guilt of missing just one moment of our kids because we are a broken family. Nobody will ever understand the pain and the guilt that comes with being divorced. I'm very bless that my kids are still here and still I fight the same demon everyday. May God comfort you and give you peace. Thank you for sharing your story.

Don't be too hard on this mother. You will not know unless you've walked in her shoes. Clearly she is a good mother to her children. Otherwise, her son wouldn't have loved her that much. I have not walked in her shoes, but as a mother, I know how much I love my children and I'm sure she does too.

@James Thao it is the stupid tradition and culture that caused all this. Whether she picked her new husband or not, her exhusband won't do the wedding without the son and dil actually moved from home to live with the exhusband. Her ex-husband has the choice to just do the wedding and didn't need to have the son moved. We have to identify the main cause of the problem, not point finger at this woman. Remember, She can't do a wedding without a clan/father family Hmong wedding makes this very complicated that's why many Hmong moms stay in toxic relationships and get abused.

I agreed 100%! I fought life and death to bring my children into the world. I will never let a man stand in the way of loving children. If I was a single mother and my son needed to get marry, if the Hmong culture is to harsh and unaccepting, I guess we'll just have to go to the courthouse and get a marriage license for the two kids. Life is too short to live a life of regret. Love, support, and cherish our children because tomorrow will come but we may not be here to enjoy it.

I’m sure she loved her children and tried to do what she thought was the best. We often make wrong choices or decisions based on our emotions. We as women need to be strong, independent and not depend on anyone so that our children will no go through what this poor woman’s children went through. My heart breaks into a million pieces for her son. He was so disheartened and broken; being rejected on both sides of his families. Sad sad indeed 😭😭😭😭

Sorry for your loss. I have a son too and I can’t imagine how it feels. Your son passed away from Covid-19, meaning this story takes place recently. This is the 21st century, why haven’t you guys evolved yet? Your story sounds like all this happened in the 90’s. If my new husband refuses to accept my kids, I am walking out. Also, teach your kids that education and career come before marriage. If you still live with mommy and daddy, you are not ready to have a kid. Use protection!!!!

Husband's and wives who lose their spouse are called a widow, children who lose their parents are called orphans...but parents who lose their children has no name because there's word to describe them. Traditions make it hard on children who were raised in a country rich with different beliefs and values. I hope that future generations can over see some of these traditional ways someday.

What a sad story. 😢😢😢 Please love your children and protect them with all your hearts and with everything. Do not wait until something happened to them. Then you would do something about it. It’ll be too late and you won’t ever be able to forgive yourself. I’m sure this mother loves her son very much, not saying she doesn’t love her son. But she failed to protect her son. She allowed her new husband to mistreated her son knowing that her son isn’t her husband biological child. Her husband doesn’t love or care for his step son. That is why I do not feel bad for mothers like this one. Or feel bad for fathers who acted the same way like this. Always remember whether you are a mother or father. If things do not work out with your first marriage. If you guys decided to remarried again. Please make sure to take the time to find the right one not just for yourself but for your children as well. Who will love your children along with you. It is your responsibility as a mother/father to protect your children from any harm. Stand up up against to those who have the intentions to hurt them in any way. Love, care, and support your children. Everything you do make sure it is what’s best for your children as well. It isn’t all about what is best for you and your own happiness. If things do not work out between you and your spouse. You can always find a new one. But your children is something you cannot find or replace.

But they are alive but its like you have no parent and no one who will listen to your struggles, bc they refuse to allow you to say you are orphans. Orphans have no feeling of home to belong, when their parent throw them around. If you can’t love your children don’t bring them into the world because they will wait for your love forever.

.....After listening to this story, the boy in here died directly from COVID but 80% indirectly from the divorced parents fault which resulting lack of love and supports. The boy just wished to be loved and have support. Listen up new parent or parenting, if you're single or have no kids you can do whatever you want but once you give life or have kids it's not all about you anymore. I'm sure this boy had alot of questions before he passed. The way he wrote all his last notes to his mother, he probably went through neglect of love from the two divorced parents. Sad to have a child passed and ended their life before the parent wake up.
