This channel is amazing, filling a knowledge hole I’ve had for a long time

This is why I love working with old-school equipment. If the lubricant had a lubricity anything better than rusty water it was more than good enough to do the job.

Could you do a video on multi-rated gear oils? I mean gear oils which specify both GL-4 and GL-5 on the same bottle. How are the different from gear oils which specify just one of the standards?

great explanations and great work as always 🙂

Great information! Fluid selection is very important and people need to understand it.

@ 7:10 you are saying that clutch plates absorb the force/torque of right hand wheels and transfer them to left hand wheel,but still at starting point slip occurs?Thank you.

That said, have you any presentation on the topic of helical gear-type limited-slip diffs such as Quaife, EATON Truetrac, Torsen, Wavetrac, etc? Thanks for your work. It is appreciated (regardless of audio quality).

Excellent. As far as a clutch type LSD goes, if it's aftermarket and no oil recommendation except use 140 grade is given, how does one work out what oil to use

One thing I have learned with my 2017 ram 2500 with anti-spin Is that traction control virtually renders the anti-spin useless. Unless I totally turn the TC off - which is another can of worms.

For the viscose diff I wonder if they ever used a Newtonian fluid?

Thanks mate. Do you have any info on pinion heights. I know hypoid is below the crow wheel and I think genius is level and snood is above. Due to the pinion helix being different do they need different? Cheers

Hey, I have a rather stupid question. What exteme pressure additive is used in hypoid gear oils that make them smell rather like armpit sweat?

Some OEM. Recommends 80W90 for front and rear diff however 75W-90 for the tans.. i thought 75W-90 would be a superior oil thus used in all 3.. ??🤔

In a viscous LSD, wouldn't you want an oil that behaved like a non-Newtonain fluid?
@needmoreboost63692 жыл бұрын
Like silicone oils? corn starch is a poor lubricant
@FairladyS1302 жыл бұрын
In my experience a viscous LSD has the working part sealed so the diff oil would be OE recommended.

What is the difference between GL-4 and GL-5 additive package?
@zzman53069 ай бұрын
Better additive pack and better protection.

Low resolution digital sound - microphone sampling, playback, etc sometimes creates poor sound quality to what would be an otherwise outstanding presentation. It pains me to work so hard to understand every syllable of every word to what you're saying, and yet most of what you're saying is already common knowledge to many mechanically-apt, automotive tech aficionados like myself. I will endeavour! to endure this video to the very end because I am truly interested in any corroboration to my determination to blend together two name-brand, premium conventional drive axle lubrication products in my latest axle components' installation. Cheers.
