what extra sad is that when Alberto explains how his father left him, it creates the possibility that Alberto’s dad found a human he loved more and he wanted to live a “normal” life as a human even if it meant leaving his son behind. The fact that Luca does the same thing to Alberto in this scene must be extra heartbreaking, as he’s already been betrayed by someone he trusted the most.

Id say mainly points 2 and 3, but the first one is also true. He was jealous on their bond because Luca shifted from Alberto to Giulia too fast for him. He lost his father and now he's loosing another person in his life, and when we add that how long he was alone.... Albertos story is really sad

I just love how the movement of the scene unravels between 0:01 and 0:05: his tail draws a circle around Giulia's face and then the way his movements continue on that exact same curve in the next shot (you can literally follow it with your finger), which really enhances the moment in which he stands. Don’t get me wrong i feel bad for Alberto and Luca shouldn’t have betrayed him. But luca really isn’t the bad guy here, he just panicked in the heat of the moment. Alberto brought it on himself tbh. He knew that Luca did NOT want to be exposed and did NOT want anyone to know he was a monster. Knowing that, he shouldn’t have put Luca in this situation. Alberto put luca in a position where he would either have to expose his secret which he really didn’t want to do (which would lead to him putting himself in danger, letting go off his dream of being on land, and losing his friend) or he would have to betray Alberto. Im not saying Luca made the right choice, but you can’t really blame him for what he did, especially because he was arguing with Alberto at the time and because he only had a couple seconds to decide what to do. Again this still broke my heart, and i was also mad at luca in the moment until i thought more about it and realized that this was mostly on Alberto.

This was a really powerful scene...for like ten seconds. The underlying themes are great: Luca alienating Alberto for something he himself (secretly) is, and Julia's horror despite that she knows Alberto is a nice guy. But they don't run with it like they could have. Luca is revealed the same way less than a minute later and Julia barely reacts at all.
